K &n or Volant cold air intake

    I have a k&n and if I had the choice I would go with an AFE. The 2012+ models have the stupid secondary air pump that needs to be relocated in order to fit the aftermarket air filter. The k&n kit makes you move it right behind the washer fluid tank in front of the headlight housing. Makes it impossible to do anything with your headlights without removing the whole pump. Also, the wiring harness that is connected to the pump is completely stretched to the max to the new location. To me it's sketchy.. But it works. I haven't seen the AFE in person, but from the looks of it the pump gets relocated right near the actual filter withoutbeing in tthe way of anything. You have a whole lot more leeway for the wire without it being pulled tight to the max. Seems like a better design all around. Plus everyone else on here runs AFE and gets a half chub after just hearing the name. So they might be on to something. Save up the extra 100 bucks and go AFE. You'll be glad you did

    The intake tube diameter on the Volant, at the MAF sensor is different then stock. This causes lean codes on some trucks due to the discrepancy between the MAF sensor readings and the fuel trims generated, and the AF sensor reading. Some trucks generate lean ocdes, others don't, of the ones that don't, their fuel trims may still be way off and they don't know unless they are monitoring their fuel trims.

    If you get a Volant, you should get a MAF Cali too.
