OME lift and road pothole 884 vs 885 spring

    Sliders, SCS6 Wheels, OME full set-up, bump stops, Banks Exhaust, TRD Intake, TRD short shifter, Floortech mats and Best Top Canopy.
    Is the OMElift with 884 spring give a smoother ride when hitting pothole if compare tothe 885 spring.

    I’m raisingthe question because the 885 extra lift will reduce suspension extension over the 884 spring. The road in Quebec are very bad about large and deep pot hole, especially during the spring when our roadunfreeze. I don’t want to drive a 4000 lbs solid brick with not enough shock extension.

    Yes, 884 springs will give an incrementally smoother ride over potholes compared to 885 springs for the reason you stated. Don't run 885 just to achieve a higher lift. Use the longer springs if you added more weight (bumper, winch, skids): http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?17971-Lovells-Specifications The 885 springs are appropriate if you added 101-150 kg of weight to the front. (A steel bumper like Relentless or Pilfrey adds about 60 kg.)

    Correct, they share the same spring rate @590 lbs/in. My only concern is with 885 the wheel will have less extension travel since the truck is lifted another half to an inch.

    Less possible extension maybe mean the wheel won't be able to travel a far in the pothole. So end-up by shaking more the cab of the truck. The truck is a daily driver with 95% onroad, 5% offroad.

    I stand corrected on the earlier info as it is more tailored for the Prado. There may be a typo there, too, as it wouldn't make sense for a mfr to offer two different springs with just 5mm length difference (when standard mfg tol is +/- 10%).
