Hey everyone! Just picked up my first Tacoma. It’s an ‘08 Base Regular cab with 100k miles. When I first start the car and when I turn it off, it makes this knocking sound. It seems to be coming from the passenger side front. Not exactly sure what it is. Any ideas?

Pretty sure it’s your catalytic converter heating up and cooling down. It’s normal

That makes sense. I know that the cat makes that sound but I’ve just never heard it this loud before. Thanks for the info!

Sounds like metal ticking as it cools off.

I hear similar ticking from mine, thought not as loud, when parking in my quiet garage at ~55-60ºF ambient temps.

Probably doesn't indicate anything amiss, just normal variation.
