‘11 Speaker wire harness location? Path? Plugs? SOLVED

I got a good one for you guys…..

Fixing a buncha little issues.

I’ve been trying to chase a speaker wire issue that’s driving me nuts..

I have no rear speaker output in my truck, neither rear speaker functions.

It’s an ‘11 access cab with those silly little headliner speakers.

Pulled the headliner, everything looks fine up there. Tried a known working speaker, nothing. No voltage at the harness.

Pulled the factory headunit, jumped a speaker into the plug for the rear speakers, it works for both channels.

My issue lies somewhere between headunit and the headliner.

My question for you is…..

Where the hell does the speaker wire harness for the 2 headliner speakers run?

I assume from the radio then behind the cluster then down around the fuseblock then up the A pillar on the driver side?

Are there any more plugs in the harness that may be loose/unplugged?

Specific locations to check?

I’m pretty sure the black plug is a speaker wire connector on the A pillar ?


UPDATE -

I started pulling shit apart because I’m impatient.

I do have continuity between the fuseblock plug and the headliner plug.

I do NOT have continuity between the radio plug and the plug at the the fuseblock.

I tore the dash completely apart and can’t find a connector between these 2 points.

Any suggestions?

After pulling the headliner out of this truck and most of the dash, I don’t really feel like pulling a whole buncha shit apart again to find the issue.

It’s getting frustrating.

If I have to pull everything apart again, I’m going to run new speaker wires from the headunit to the speakers to bypass the whole factory harness.

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction before I have to do this.

Ok.

I’m gonna update this as I go just to keep track of everything

UPDATE 1 -

The black plug in the A pillar is definitely speaker wire.

The green, blue, pink, and purple go to the 2 little headliner speaker.

UPDATE 2 -

The harness runs from the A pillar plug down to behind the fuseblock cubby.

There’s another plug there right next to the rear mirror camera connector.

UPDATE 3 -

There is continuity between the A pillar plug and the fuseblock plug.

Jumped a speaker at the fuseblock plug with no luck. Looks like the wiring goes up behind the cluster now.

I wish I was dead.

The harness runs behind all this shit.

Somewhere between the radio and the fuseblock plug, the wires lose continuity.

Whereever the fuck that is is probably my problem.

I have no continuity between the radio plug and the fuseblock plug.

That’s a start.

Looks like IP2 is the A pillar plug.

Looks like IN2 is the plug above the fuse panel.

Looks like J16 and J17 is the plug at the radio.


Where is R11 radio setting condenser?

Almost seems like my problem is there.

I wonder if one/both of the caps are popped or the unit somehow came unplugged.

The stupid R11 “radio condenser” was unplugged.



I’ve seen this little box above the glovebox and always wondered what the fuck it was.

Now I know.

Also, it has the 2 caps in it that act as a crossover for the tiny little stupid ass tweeter sized speakers in the headliner. I installed a set of 6.25” speakers in the rear doors a while back and the factory headliner speakers are bypassed.

I always wondered why the door speakers sounded like shit before they stopped working.

Now I know.

If you bypass the 2 caps and jump the pins, it almost doubles the sound output of the rear speakers.
