Clean your MAF and throttle blade. Can't hurt. Might help.

The thing about vacuum hoses is that if they don't suck that really sucks. On the other hand, if they do suck that doesn't suck at all.

after checking everything vacuum hose, electrical connections etc just redo the timing belt. Just make sure after everything is aligned turn the motor a few revolutions to make sure those marks have not moved. Good luck

when my mechanic did my timing belt, he had a hard time turning over the engine. Took him a day to figure it out and ended being the cam sensor or something. Apparently, he damaged it when putting everything back together.

Thanks y’all, I’ve got my wife’s crv torn down at the moment putting a new rad in it, soon as it’s together I’ll be doing one final exterior check then I’m checking the belt.

Ok done with the crv. I combed over the Tacoma again after remembering the ground that on of the AC bracket bolts goes through. I checked and sure enough I didn’t connect it. I bolted the ground up and still same rough running won’t idle long. I’ll still be checking time, but I just knew it was that ground…….

The truck reads a P0340 code (cam position). Pulled the upper timing cover today, both cam cog marks are timed with their respective marks. Haven’t pulled the lower cover yet to check crank but that’s next. The cam position sensor was solidly connected. I’m going to test the sensor, does anyone know the ohm range for them?
I’m very very weak with electrical, what’s the best way to test the connection to the cam position sensor? Thanks you all

Well I found the problem! I broke a tooth off the crank cog when removing it to replace the crank seal. I found another thread where a guy had the same CEL code, identical symptoms and that’s what it was. So, those little teeth aren’t there for decor, the crank sensor likes something to read off of. Thanks you all.
