As the title says… rolling down the highway, the truck’s native GPS yells out, “BRAKING AHEAD”!

I’ve searched the manual, gone thru every menu in the system, including the native maps, thought I’ve found it, a couple of times, but still get this randomness, sometimes twice, one right after the other.

Has anyone else figured out how to turn off that specific notification?

Not sure, try your Toyota App? I use Android Auto and just mute it so no issues.

Are you tailgating? I'd be looking at that before anything else.

No, it’s not CarPlay or AA, it’s a traffic setting in the native Toyota head unit. No, not tailgating… it’s telling me that there are cars braking up the road.

Mine just started doing this yesterday for the first time! So weird, it’s like a traffic update, has nothing to do with how you’re driving.

Yes, what I'm saying is I don't use the Toyota Map and have no issues with AA. Or are you saying that you get this warning even when using AA / Car Play?

Are you using Android Auto or Apple Car Play?

Sounds like Traffic Jam Assist. You can probably turn that off somewhere in the app or the head unit.

Traffic Jam Assist…. Huh. Ok, I’ll chk that out.

I’m using CarPlay, but that’s not where it’s coming from. It blasts out BRAKING AHEAD over top of whatever’s on in CarPlay.

Page 63 in the Toyota multimedia guide shows some notification settings that can be turned off. One of them is Traffic Alerts. Go into settings on the Toyota screen, then Notifications, then turn off whatever you want. I hate my music being interrupted so I turned off all notifications day 1.

Yep, those are all off. I still get the Braking Ahead notification. So strange…

Crazy. I hope this isn't some kind of update that Toyota is rolling out. I absolutely hate unwanted notifications. Toyota's "School Zone" notifications drive me crazy but at least they're silent.

Turn off the Pre-collision safety feature and see if it stops for you. It's in the MID. I've only once had it flash up, but no audio with it. Supposedly it's activated if the sensors detect that the vehicle in front of you is slowing aggressively and you aren't matching the deceleration rate.

Welp, you got my truck doing it now. I was in traffic for 2 minutes before it piped up. Yeah, stupid.

This isn't it. This is something different.

The "braking ahead" is an alert tied to your Toyota maps and GPS. Its basically a traffic alert.

I thought I would try and help. Usually there is something on the sensitivity where you can change.

I only see this when I have Google Maps connected. You might be looking in the wrong place to turn this off.
