This is an old thread but my 2012 Tacoma had the same problem and it was fully covered under warranty at the dealer. The dealer said the warranty was extended to 10 years regardless of mileage.

Has anyone had this issue with a different year?
Has these two pop on this morning when I started up my 2015, 49,xxx miles.

    What code(s) is it setting?

No idea yet. Don’t have a code reader and I live fairly remote. Wouldn’t trust the single mechanic shop to scramble my eggs let alone fix a tricycle.

Without knowing the code(s) it's anyone's guess what the problem could be, I can say the Trac Off light is almost certainly on because the engine light is on.
Most auto parts stores will read the codes for free, at least that would give an idea where to start looking.

Ya I hear you. I’m reading all 3 major threads about this right now. Someone said check the gas cap, which funny enough was loose… would that really set off those sensors?
I’m a 2 hour drive to the nearest town with an auto parts store, it’ll have to wait for now.
Will let the thread know what I find out when I find out :fingerscrossed:

Yes a loose gas cap can set an engine light, traction control is often disabled when the engine light is on because it relies upon the engine control system to be working properly.
Might be time to pick up a cheap scanner, there's quite a few out there for under $100 that will read engine codes and data.

Haha I literally just ordered a obd2 scanner a minute ago. So when I find out it’s the gas cap, I still have to get a tech to shut off those sensors or can I do that myself?
I’ve had a ‘maint req’d’ sensor on for the better part of a year now because I do all my own general maintenance and I read that that sensor would come on for an oil/spark plug change at 30k I believe it was, which I did. Can’t be bothered paying Toyota to shut it off.

You can clear the codes that will turn the lights off, if the problem is no longer present it should stay off.
The maintenance required light is the oil change reminder, it blinks at startup 4500mi after it's reset and stays on steady at 5000mi.
It can be easily reset, doesn't have to be done at dealer.

The maintenance light doesn't know about 30k spark plug intervals, it comes on every 5k as a basic oil change reminder. It can easily be reset with just the trip/odo button at the gauge cluster

Follow these steps, "key on" means key on but engine off..
    - turn key on and set ODO to "trip A", let go of button
    -turn key to off position
    - hold button while turning key back on
    - you should see hash marks counting down - - - -, keep holding the button
    - when they disappear the maintenance light is reset

Being that the Check engine + Trac off issue is only occasional, but still irritating to reset, after it happened this past week, I decided to stop looking for my wrench to take off the positive battery terminal, and installed a blade switch instead. Now I dare it to annoy me again.

But that doesn't fix the problem, it just turns the lights off until the next time the code sets.

If you're disconnecting the battery to turn the light off for yourself, so be it.
But if you're doing it to pass inspection, it may be worse.
It resets the readiness monitors too. And those can take 100, 200, or more miles to pass.

It's your truck, do as you please. Just throwing it out there.
I haven't fixed things on my truck, because it doesn't bother me.
    So I can't say much.

Yeah, I'm planning to figure out what's caused it here shortly. I couldn't find my Bluetooth OBDII reader forever, so it was just a workaround to get the lights off. Finally found it on the bookshelf in my living room, where I'd put it a couple of years ago "so I'll know where it is". I'll hook it up this week when I get time; hoping it's just a gas cap issue.

So, plugged it in, and immediately got this code. I put on a Uni filter a few weeks back, before the check engine light ever came on, so I wonder if that could have anything to do with it. It was a super easy mod, so I can't imagine I jacked anything up, but I guess I need to inspect.

"Common causes of the P2443 code include a faulty SAI system control valve, a clogged or disconnected vacuum hose, and a damaged secondary air pump."

If the Secondary Air Injection hoses are intact and connected properly it's most likely the Bank 2 Air Switching Valve is stuck, the valves are only serviced as an assembly. You may be able to take it apart and clean it but otherwise it has to be replaced.

Your other 2 options are a tune to turn off the SAIS codes or the @hewitt-tech SAIS bypass module.

Secondary Air Injection System Bypass Kit
@Dm93 we really appreciate you tagging us. @PirateMica we are glad to help answer any questions you have about the Bypass Kit. I also wanted to include some link with additional details about the Bypass Kit.

Our recommended solution is the Gen 2 Bypass Kit. It is our most comprehensive bypass kit that will address both mechanical and electrical SAIS fault codes. The only codes it would not address is any related to damaged pressures sensor. If you had a damaged pressure sensor then a kit addon would be required. If you provide us with the current codes we can more confidently recommend if an addon would be needed. That said, if your pressure sensor, factory wiring and ECM are all in good working condition all you should need the Gen 2 Bypass Kit.

    Gen 2 $450

    - Our Gen II kit emulates the operation of the SAIS and ECM reads as Ready/Completed. It also eliminates all trouble codes dealing with the SAIS with the exception of the pressure sensor. Installs at the Air Injection Driver and Air Switching Valves.

+ Covers both mechanical and Electrical SAIS error codes
+ Compatible with Toyota's current ECM Computer flash
+ Compatible with Flex Fuel Modes
    + Clears permanent codes

    Kit Addon
    Pressure Sensor Replacement Single $225

It is also important to note that our Bypass Kits are engineered to work with Factory/OEM components. If the Air Switching Valves have ever been replaced with aftermarket parts this could cause the need to purchase Pressure Sensor Addons in addition to the Bypass Kit.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call if you need any further clarification (844) 307 - 7671. Below I have also some additional Blogs about the SAIS system.
