My dealer is significantly modifying a manual premium allocation, letting me add and remove any option as well as the color!

For all these dealerships that basically say they can ask for an allocation but no guarantees and they won’t do a custom order ARE absolutely misleading customers.

    my build

2025 white TRD OR premium manual trans
    Rigid fog lights
    Exterior Bed lights
    Mudguards
    Front PPF

    4k off msrp

    You're custom ordering a 2024 in July 2025?

Also - beware the excluded middle. Don't assume that your dealer's ability to do a custom order means all other dealers can do the same. It may be that some dealers, for varying reasons, can do so -- and others cannot.

Sry, it’s a 2025 as described in post body, thread title was typo, still living in the past apparently!

Granted, I do have a good relationship with my dealer, having purchased other Tacoma’s in the past from them. First attempt was sales manager later going into the system to remove the bed step, spray in bed liner, and predator steps. Next step the following day was to request a color change from silver to white. Toyota accepted all changes.

my guess is they can all do it but many are just flat out lazy…. It was explained that a big change (trim level) was not possible but small options and colors are fair game.

I'll disagree, not possible. You can modify an existing allocation, but a custom order is a vehicle like a BMW or domestic where you handpick the options and it's built for you. Toyota just takes an existing truck and adds or removes a few packages. You have to catch the vehicle at the right time otherwise SOL.

^ please read before stating the obvious

There was a manual OR allocation then I did “handpick” all the options I wanted as well as the color

But you stated you can custom order, which is not true. Yes you can modify to an extent it's like a custom order. However it's not a custom order (as your title states).

OP, since you are the creator of this thread, look for "Thread Tools" above your post #1. From there you should be able to edit the title to say 2025.

Those are all port installed items so yeah it is possible to get them added....but question you should be asking is if those options are worth it or if there are better options out there. There are better mud flaps, bed lighting is ok - not great, other options besides rigid lights, anyone can do PPF. Also only $4k off? You need to be at least at 10% off.

Go ask them if you can order a trdor dual cab long bed with a manual

Until then, you are just getting what is available, it just happens what you want is available or being added after it leaves the factory

I’m doing backflips that I can get a premium manual OR exactly how I want for 4k off sticker. The internet champions all want to throw shade. Show me any non hybrid Tacoma that’s advertised at 10k off at any dealer. 4k off is mainstream to better than average. Per cargurus, there are 3 premium manuals out of around 2300 listed.

oh here we go again, another it doesn’t exist completely irrelevant comment… I guess since I can’t get the 3.5tt tundra motor in a double cab long bed Tacoma with a manual transmission then my order isn’t custom… how bout we call it a “custom allocation” lol so the haters don’t hate

Thx, I feel that anyone spending 50k should be treated as special, regardless if we actually are or not lol

It’s just the principle that you can get exactly what you want from both Domestic and European manufactures, and we should expect no less from Toyota.

It is my experience that if you are on a Toyota dealer lot and say “how much off MSRP will you give me on that Tacoma that 23rd from the far end of the second row of Tacomas”, that’s when you can get an excellent discount.

    10% isn't 10k.

and you're (generally) not going to find any Tacoma advertised at 10% off TSRP - but that doesn't mean you can't achieve that in direct negotiation, particularly after you've walked out of the showroom once or twice. :D

totally, but on a spec that is basically 1/10 of 1 percent already, I’d been driving to a lots of lots to find it … spending 5k in gas to save 5k!

they aren't custom building anything for you. you will be waiting until they get an allocation that happens to match your order.
