“Custom allocation” 2025, it’s possible

@BaltimoreMD more clearly expanded upon what can be achieved in the right situation.

    Gotta have right trim
    Gotta have right cab
    Gotta have right trans

Anything else can be modified and no, the dealer didn’t call another dealer that happened to have what I wanted and no Toyota didn’t send the original allocation to another dealer to then specifically build mine. The option list AND color was modified on the allocation given to them, according to my specific list.

    haters gonna hate

    1) either folks randomly get exactly what they want with ease (much easier for auto trans). Even then, with so many individual line item options (bed step, etc), I find it doubtful for someone to blindly select every single thing and a dealer in their area have exactly what they listed.

    2) they wish they knew this was possible and are in denial and repeatedly just want to throw shade…. I’ll accept constructive criticism about being ocd about options…but I was open to 3 different colors.

With all that said, I’m getting right at 4k off. Which admittedly is not ideal but is reasonable. If I was more flexible with whatever was available I might could have gotten more off sticker. Having said that, if anyone can show us a 2025 TRD manual premium (Soft-Tex interior) listed anywhere in country for more than 4k off msrp (even without my specific option list), I’m all ears. If you actually search, you will quickly understand you are searching for a needle in a haystack.

I hear you on the needle. Mine was the only trim/exterior/interior combo in the country at the time of locating it and calling the dealership to inquire. I had spent a few weeks prior doing 500mi radius searches on Toyota's inventory tool hopping around between zip codes of Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, DC, New York, Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Fran, Seattle, Denver, Boise. So a drag net on the entire country making sure to overlap just in case.

Contradict yourself much? “Needle in a haystack” and “$4k under was the best you could do”.

If you got a so called custom order and dealers can custom order a Toyota then why is it a needle in a haystack. If they do customer orders then anyone should be able to walk right in, negotiate the best price and then order whatever they want exactly how they want it.

You basically have said everything everyone has been calling out. YOU DID NOT GET A CUSTOM ORDER because Toyota does not do custom orders.

I do not see one single hater here. All are happy you got what you wanted. They are just calling out you didn’t get a custom order like your thread topic and first post claims.

    Glad you like your truck.

It is a good defense. Call people haters when they call you out on your BS. Always a good comeback.

It's not a custom order until I can get crank windows, radio delete for credit, and no air conditioning. That's how I see it. Again, the days of a custom order from the factory are long gone.... Still want that '70 W-30 Vista Cruiser....

Heading out to watch #5 get his number retired, and drink beer with friends... Have a great weekend everyone... Stop worrying about the little things...

Oh my, I’m so sorry to all the jealous haters (about 60% of responses), it’s definitely not a custom order until I can get a 2jz from my 95 supra in it…

I’ve changed my mind, I really wanted a 2jz and autonomous driving…. Guess my order isn’t custom after all…

Consider not being quite so much of a tool. It’s not a good look on anyone.

Normal folks understand the OP is referring to obtaining a configuration within the Toyota defined constraints.

Pedants get hung up on the word “custom” thinking it means the OP claims he can get an SR hybrid with power tailgate and 6ft bed. Normal people realize he’s just talking about getting something aligned with what the Toyota website Build options allow.

Nobody likes a pedant who willfully chooses to misinterpret an OP’s post.

Congrats on getting the build you wanted. Did the same in 2016.

Ignore the ignorant/ jealous folks who willfully choose to “misunderstand” your post. You’ve made clear what happened and anyone still disputing “custom” is simply choosing to ignore your other posts for some reason. Maybe it gives them a chance to puff up otherwise deficient egos? I dunno.

It’s clear that nobody can get something different than what’s available via the Toyota.com build page, and you’ve not claimed otherwise. You arranged to get the build you wanted. Mature folks celebrate that. Perhaps the others are jealous they spent thousands of $$$ on pre-added crap they couldn’t avoid buying.

My excellent salesman found an "allocated" Limited in the pipeline in the color I wanted and was able to add a few things before assembly. They missed the bed step, but I took delivery with that part on back order. When it came in, he installed it himself when I was able to bring my truck in (he formerly worked in the shop before an injury.) I'm pretty happy with my dealer and specifically my salesman, he's been great.

Depending on your region, some accessories are far cheaper at the parts counter than on the window sticker. Difference being a bit of wrench spinning vs hundreds of $$ difference

I had just had major chest surgery, I wasn't interested in turning wrenches at the time, and my dealer took care of me. I appreciate that.

We each make the decisions appropriate to our individual situations. Were I to have been in the same spot I’m sure I’d have chosen similarly

Truck arrived at the dealer the day I found out I had to have surgery. It was quite the day. Surgery worked, and the truck is awesome, so just another epic tale in the life.

thanks for confirming my assessment with your non-response.

It’s clear your “opinion” has no merit wrt the OP given your inability to articulate a cogent supportive stance for your negative assertions.

Or to put it in simple words you might better understand given your lack of understanding of “acerbic” - OP doesn’t mean “custom” the way you seem to think, so the basis of your refutational posts are without standing.

Glad for the successful surgery. My wife recently had unexpected hand surgery and future looks good. Make up an entertaining explanation- don’t let truth get in the way of a good story

@gpb, gotta say you consistently bring the most reasonable, measured and rational perspective into threads which have fallen down the TW misinterpretation mudslinging rabbit hole. And with levity in the form of "modern" latin? :woot::woot:

I applaud you sir. Your next beer is on me.
