Need some help fellas. Was just about to head to town when I noticed there was grease everywhere behind my right front wheel.

It looks like it’s coming from the inward sides of the LCA bushings. I just had a new lift put in and alignment done a couple weeks ago.

Any ideas what this could be?

Your cv angle is too great and you’ve burst your sealed joint. Your lift is your problem.

Was just going to say... that angle is a tad excessive.

Looks like you have dobinsons front coilovers. I would talk to crikeymike and see if he can help your out with you cv issues. I know they specifically sell high angle cv boots and other products. Best of luck.

Upon further inspection the seal on the CV boot is clearly bad (I used protection this time).

My mechanic is about 25 miles from me. Will I make it?

    @Crikeymike I’m gonna send you a PM.

I'm sold out of the Dobinsons high angle CV boots unfortunately.

I recommend get some new OE ones and installed they should last fine until you can get some high angle ones. You probably fixed it already.

Yeah, that's a pretty tall lift!!

Just fixing the CV boot, you will blow out another soon given those Crazy CV angles. OP what lift did you go with (seems like you stacked lifts for something greater than 2.5-3in)

@Crikeymike thanks for the tip. I actually haven’t fixed it yet. I wasn’t ready to do it myself and my mechanic is wasn’t around this weekend.

@nd4spdbh my struts and coils should have given me a 3 inch lift. But I also added a 1/4” spacer on each side. These are the Dobinsons spacers that are recommended to use to correct the lean. My thought is that the lift itself was going to settle 1/4” to 1/2” so I got both spacers to keep me at the 3” mark or barely above.

I drove for 4 years/120k miles with 2 bad/torn CV boots (99% highway miles though). Made zero sound, zero play. I wouldn't recommend doing that though. What I'm saying is that 25 miles is nothing on a torn CV boot on these trucks.

Finally got around to replacing both CV axles with these: https://www.cvjreman.com/product/9168-tr/ before a major offroad road trip. I'm super happy with these. Shipping and core charge are pricey as expected. Maybe just order boots from if your normal source is sold out.

1/4in spacer is typically only used on the driver side to correct lean, putting the spacer on both sides doesnt do anything for lean of any kind.

@3in of lift you are def at the max for lift height for CV angles and will go through boots pretty quick.

@Bishop2Queens6 thanks for the input. Sounds like I should be fine driving for a short time until I get my parts.

I know it won’t correct the lean if used on both sides. I used the spacers to maintain 3inch from any possible sag.

Warranty – When used for offroad or in lifted or modified trucks there is no warranty.
If you have an issue, contact us, we will help to resolve it.

Please pay attention to how many times they say there is no warranty in that link above. There is a reason for this.
when it was time to replace both my cv axles i decided to pay once, cry once. I paid over $750 for 2 axles shipped with core. One of the red high angle boot last barely a year. The other went out a few months later. I called the cvj and was told there is no warranty on modified vehicles. Who is going to purchase these “high angle” boots for a stock vehicle? I do not recommend these. Might as well go buy a $90 special from autozone or something.
what I recommend is to purchase a high quality boot and reboot it yourself. I’m currently running some sdhq boots. Been on the truck for a while. I know it lasted longer than some pretty red high angle boots.

Agreed. It's absolutely BS that CVJ won't warranty their product for modified/offroad use, which is exactly their target buyer of this axle. I am not defending their warranty policy, and it sucks that your experience was not ideal. I was providing the OP an option since his initial options were OOS.

@EugeneTacoNewb , OP, we're more than happy to provide advice here on TW, but please edit your title. The word "HELP" is reserved for those stranded in offroad situations and need community support for an emergency recovery.
