You mean the fob is not powered by magic? There is something I need to do?

Aside from being an ass, there is some stupid investigation as to what fricking button battery the FOB takes. I don't understand why they cannot standardize one fricking button battery for all fobs. WTF.

Usually involves going to 2-3 different stores to find the right one.

the Tacoma uses the one they sell in bulk at Costco, so I assume it’s the most popular. it’s also swapped into my Volvo key fob and my garage door openers use. as well as bicycle lights.

There were a couple things I needed different ones for recently too, but this size is the only one I keep on hand!

I ended up disabling my spare remote and periodically disable my daily remote.

I guess one of my concerns was battery leakage. If you've ever left batteries in a flashlight or TV/DVD etc. remote unused for a few months the battery will leak battery acid and destroy the remote - this doesn't appear to be an issue with the button style battery type as far as I know.

I also have a 2019 and I got my first low key fob message a couple of months ago. I had never used my 2nd fob that came with it, and I had of course, deactivated or turned off, that fob because I had just kept it in a drawer. So when the fob I have used since I purchased the truck, gave me the message, I just took the battery out of the 2nd fob, put it in and everything is fine. I DO have brand new spare batteries, just in case, but I used that one because it was the oldest. But so far, it is performing like a brand new one with no messages, etc. My truck just turned over 62,000 miles...

I got the warning and changed the battery. 2 weeks later, I'm getting the warning again?

Lithium button batteries do not leak, but button style sliver oxide and especially alkaline button batteries leak.

Fresh batteries? They do discharge over time, even if uninstalled. Shelf live of better lithium button batteries is 8 years, generics is 3 years.

I have 2 push button cars. Chrysler allows you to pull the button out, insert the remote into the resulting hole like a normal key and turn the ignition to start.
Toyota just needs the remote to be right next to the button.

Tacoma is mostly stock, the WRX isn't.
And miss the thrill of rolling through the stop at the bottom while pushing that middle pedal with every ounce of your being?

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
    Me, too.

And now I have anxiety, heart palpitations and a tic in my left eye from reading this thread.
