She refuses to use her rear camera. Granted, it’s a 2.5i base and the resolution of it would be an upgrade if I considered it ‘shitty,’ but still.

Make sure you carry a quart of oil in that thing. These engines consume oil like nobody’s business, and the techs will say they have an ‘acceptable level’ of consumption.

Wheel bearings are common problems with em too. She had one replaced before I moved back.. think it was around 40k miles.

Other than that, they’re pretty economical adventure cars. Those scratches will be minimal compared to what you’ll get if you ramble on it like my girl does haha.

I’m running Castrol GTX Magnatec full synthetic in it and monitoring it religiously.

Part of the reason that i want the Crawford oil air separator (glorified catch can) is to capture all the junk that would get thrown back onto the valves since these motors are put together so loose from the factory.

Alec drives this thing pretty hard and i beat on it when i get the chance, so far i have seen zero oil loss. I’m trying to keep it that way. We change oil every 3-5k religiously around here. Its cheap insurance when you like to drive harder than one probably should

She will not. She is in love with the fuel mileage.

Pester @Taco Guy11 to lift his. He just got a new job where he will almost have to lift his in order to not get stuck

The thing is, when you lift them, they still get the same. So she can have more fun than the truck

I had a catch can system for the FA20DIT WRX I owned and was never impressed with their design or function. Most of that stuff will burn off anyhow, they’re not fool proof in how they work, and it can make your cab stink of oil fumes. Not my thing but some swear by em.

I think 5 is the max Subaru recommends, so that’s good. You see the Mobil 1 discount thread? $12 or something for 5L.

I was shocked how much the catch can in my truck catches; and it has no baffling or filter in it, it catches fluid only through gravity.

I feel they are essential on turbo cars and anything that is driven hard.

I think mobil runs a sale every summer now. I need to restock. I change oil in so many different toyotas that i usually keep 8-10 5qt jugs on hand lol.

I appreciate all your input by the way; it makes me glad to have made this thread! :)

She has an Outback.. and it needs new tires bad. She definitely gets better economy in it, and it’s more comfortable to drive an AT (even if it is a CVT) that long, but I wouldn’t trust it on the freeway if it rained. At least not when I have a new set of tires on my truck.

I’m just squeaking, not sure what the issue is yet because I’m gonna take the assembly out when we get back. All of the bushings and spots I would expect something to make the noise look good, and it’s only making it up shock travel (of any depth, too). Gonna use this as an excuse to get 700# coils loaded up so I can dial some of this preload out.

Nothing like that. I can get under my aluminum bumper and lean up enough to narrow it down to an area without it being exact. I just haven’t worked up the desire to pull the coil out yet.

I thought it was my radiator support body mounts...until i pulled the headlight out and saw the metal sliding back and forth against metal making the squeak right in front of my face

When pelfrey went out of business, my dreams of having a good looking aluminum front bumper died. Now the next best option is like $2600 fron Demello
