Absolutely go for the small spring lift with new struts. I think it’ll be worth it. Just not sure what aftermarket struts would be best....

Not sure if this is the appropriate part number for the 12-17 MY. It advertises ~1” of lift with the heavier spring. Not my first choice:
    https://eibach.com/us/2152/E30-77-010-03-22-SUBARU-Crosstrek-pro-lift-kit

RalliTek sells a variety of assembled struts based on the ride height you’re looking for. Spendy for built out coils, top hats and two B6 struts:
Also...backorder only currently for the fronts.

    https://www.rallitek.com/assembled-...-struts-assembled-crosstrek-xv-2013-2017.html

    Rears are available:
    https://www.rallitek.com/assembled-...-struts-assembled-crosstrek-xv-2013-2017.html

Pricing bare B6 (all four corners) is $436 but I’d rather not reuse the OEM springs. New springs are going to run $500-$600 not to mention new hardware, top hats and assembly. I’d ballpark it $1200-$1500 without shipping of the various components.

If I went with fully assembled fronts and rears it would be ~$1700. Maybe avoid shipping if I picked up in house at RalliTek.

    That’s 1k more than 5100’s / 885 fronts and 5100 rears, delivered from Headstrong.

    Stupid rabbit holes

    just some food for thought:
I’ve replaced a low beam bulb on each side once now. One lasted less than 6 months. The second was replaced yesterday.

Finally got the new brakes on, one of the rear pads seized at only 35k and was metal on metal. Everything was so rusty that I just committed and did the whole car

We have had the problem where the key gets stuck in the ignition after you park the car, and it wont come out. So I contacted my buddy who works at the subaru garage and he got us in on their first round of recalls for it. 5 times we had the key stuck and had to rock the car around, switch it in and out of park and reverse to get the parking sensor to tell the lockout on the key to release. Very glad to have that fixed, even if you don’t have the same trouble we did, get the recall done ASAP nobody wants to have their keys stuck in the ignition.

Also ordered some goodies for girly for Christmas to spruce Ruby up a little. Ever since I started looking at WRXs and talked about all the stuff I would do to one if I had bought one, she came up with a few things she’d like for Ruby. So I had easy Christmas ideas :anonymous:

Subbing to the thread cause tbh, this is badass. I really want one of these for a daily while I drink beer and look at my first genner

Also, you have me wondering why this is. I know you do your research but I would like to hear your opinion.

She’ll never actually read this :anonymous:

She wanted red and black badge overlays. I got ones for the exterior. I still need to find one for the steering wheel.

I also got her the f1 style jdm brake light fog light, because I wanted to do it and a little more light might help her backing up into the driveway at night :D I went with the one that has all the functions, brake, pulse flash, running light, and back up light. Plus I got the plug and play harness.

I also got her one of the fuse panel change holder swaps because she has a mess of change all through the center console

Also, I did not end up with a WRX. I ended up losing my job :rain:

The 16-17 crosstrek is a friggin fantastic car. We absolutely love it. The only things that bother me are the CVT and how cheaply Subaru builds their cars. I hate that they use mild steel for exhausts, brake, and suspension components. The poor cars rot up way too fast. I already replaced the brakes because of corrosion and I had to hose clamp one of the heat shields on that rusted off already  Plus, their general lack of sound deadening is just dumb.

As for the transmission, I liked auto subarus when they were a true Auto and not this CVT trash. We had to go CVT because girly didn't want to learn manual at the time. I will say this, I have driven several other CVTs and I can say that this is probably one of the best. I cant stand Honda’s soul sucking slushbox. At least the crosstrek will hold itself back AND it has “flappy paddles” as Alec calls them. So I dont hate it, but I would have to have the manual if it were me driving it all the time.

Ohh I also forgot to mention the seats stain extremely easily and are miserable to try to get stains out of. I have no idea what the previous owner spilled, but I have tried everything short of steaming and/or the wet vac.
