Somewhat unrelated, but I was amused by this footage of a prototype F250 Super Duty fully engulfed, it its camouflage wrap. I think of the Ford engineers looking at their baby burning, thinking “hmmm, maybe the exhaust is too close to the floorboards??”........or maybe this was also a seatbelt fire....but they hadn’t figured it out yet!?

Is F250 aluminum? The F150s are. An aluminum fire is a very scary thing. Hope I make it through the next couple weeks without going up in flames.

You got a lot of, well, “clickbait” threads you’ve created my friend, almost like your friends with the Paul brothers lol

Besides that, just guessing that your west coast isn’t the west coast I live on, but even though our two F-150’s were built in different plants, I’m having almost the same issues. I’ve got the 302A package which includes the shitiest upgraded surround sound system I’ve ever heard from Sony, even when the 302A package was an extra $7k USD...
Sometimes when starting the truck or even driving down the road, the headunit will either shut off or won’t even start I start up, it’s just the same black screen every time. Now US recalls have included some drivers and passenger lower seatbelt bolts shearing off during testing, which is interesting because I don’t feel like dying today
Besides that, they forgot to tighten a bolt on the Sony sub behind the rear passenger seat, so for the first 2k miles I decided that the screeching sound of the sub moving back and forth on it’s mounting bracket was OK... until I had to watch 9 different videos on how to lower the rear seat backs (might kill the Ford engineer who thought it was ok not to put a pull tab for the damn latch to get back there:bananadead:)
and then figured out that something was loose. Besides those, the 2nd gen 3.5 and 10spd pull like a quality diesel pickup TBH, and to think I got the best year (in my opinion) 2017 Lariat. I despise those ugly ass dinner fork looking headlights and double bar grill. Having a 17 is the best of both worlds, a unique front fascia that can be distinguished between the F-150 and it’s bigger brothers, and the first year of the 2nd 3.5 and 10spd, no issues with parking pins either :bananadance:

Well.....whatever coast you live on, it now affects you as well. Seems 2017 are not immune to this recall:

23 trucks have burned in seatbelt fires!! USA and Canada affected now.

How exactly does a part like this fail, assuming it's the seat belt tensioner, assuming that's what I assumed they were talking about when I first heard this. And why does it only effect the one on the passenger side.

It's like the airbag recall, why was there shrapnel being thrown from airbags?

    These things defy logic.
There's nothing remotely safe about a battery powered electric car.

Well, we do all drive around with 80-100 litres of highly flammable gasoline in a tank under our truck. I thinks it’s “choose your poison”.

Sure do and I seldom see a vehicle fire while on the road. It's funny in world where society worries about the things that can kill us, the majority of us happily sit on all that petroleum on a daily basis.

At least with ICB engines and gasoline we know what expect. Not the case with battery powered vehicles.

For sure. We’ve had a lot of time to develop safe gasoline systems, and methods of fueling.

Can you imagine if you invented the gasoline engine in 2018 and tried to bring it to market? I can’t imagine. The regulatory roadblocks to selling people the fuel would be insane.

Factory optioned 36 gallon tank over here lol :anonymous: I usually get to converse with between 2-3 other drivers who pull up, re fuel, and go, before my tank is fully filled. Slow ass non commercial pumps + any tank over 30 gallons = 10+ minutes of my life wasted.

I am there with you on wasted minutes at the pump. I wish high-speed gas pumps were not just an Indy / NASCAR thing.

You gotta promise me, my friend, to post here when you get your F150 “seatbelt fire” recall notice. Then we will be even for accusing me of click-bait.

For sure this thread is a bit of a “shit post”, but man, I like to offer people a little break from endless posting about transmission issues and tire size. I hope it serves as a distraction at very least.
