Yep and they also own the chip industry as well. We kind of stepped in it hopefully it's not too late to reverse the trend.

Carbon emissions are essentially subsidized currently. We do not pay the entire bill for what burning fossil fuel really costs us. Human health, environmental health etc. are just zeroed out on balance sheets now, but these things aren't free. Eventually we are going to have to factor all of the actual costs into how societies choose to live.

And until the latest wave of the Middle East immigration they had very homogenic populations with the common values and cultural backgrounds. I suspect their EV push will slow down drastically in the future.

Like rare minerals open pit mines and ground water destroying leach fields in China, South America and Africa?

Exactly like that. Destroying and polluting their own back yards is not sustainable.

Are you saying because of Middle Eastern immigrants coming in that will slow EV adoption in those Nordic countries?

Drive toward commercial use. I'm tired of hearing how it's all me doing the damage because I have a truck instead of a prius. Meanwhile, industry is like 95% of emissions and the differences in my setup would do F all for real change.

    Under 50k is BS.
Under 30k I might be interested.
Vehicle prices in general have gotten out of hand but I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for electric.

That’s not how inflation works. Prices will continue to go up, not down.

but if we spend 2t on an infrastructure plan to move into green energy then by 2050 it will all pay for itself right?

I’m not sure why you think this. It’s not about paying for itself.

on the subject of inflation yes thats exactly what its about. seeing as they'll most likely need to print more money, more than the 30% already printed in the last 10 months, to accommodate the spending.

Probably. Any time you have a less homogenious group, less likely it is to achieve a common goal.
Not to get political, but look at the disparity between blue and red states in opening their economies post Covid. Yet we share similar beliefs, ancestry, goals, etc.

Well I just don't see the correlation between Middle Eastern immigrants and EV adoption. That's why i asked for clarification. Seems far far fetched.

If the actual costs of GHG emissions were rolled into the retail price of the fuel, sustainable energy would instantly be cost competitive, maybe cheaper. The notion that sustainable energy must "pay for itself" is a non sequitur. Sustainable energy encapsulates costs that nobody is paying for now, that are still going on our balance sheet.

Hard to say. Some things are done well by large jurisdictions and governing bodies, and others are not. I’ll say it again — it’s not that big of an ask for a utility to say that they’re strained and to try to do laundry or charge in off-peak hours.

These monolithic, totalizing emotional responses are so strange to me.

I guess a lot of people on this forum would have been bitching that their pennies temporarily weren’t copper and they were asked to conserve fuel and ride share and watch women’s Major League Baseball during WWII.
