thats the reason i did not go with a drop bracket i did not know very much until speaking with some of the more experienced guys on here. a 6 inch drop bracket lift with 35 inch tires has less ground clearance than a 3 inch lift with 33's go figure.

the guys that have the balls to mod 35's onto a 3inch lift are badass thats a nice looking set up that can get you over a whole lot of stuff with little drama.

i saw one guys write up where he cut straight into pinch weld then folded them back it looked pretty simple that way i was going to try 35 on my 3 inch but, i just could not get over the cab chop required i have a little sliver missing from mine the guys running 35's needed to cut theres completely flat.

plus there always the possibility of the fire wall mods and that did me in lol i felt defeated. i'm liking the 295's now though they look nice and i can still stuff them in there.

Have you looked at the RCD lift ? It is a 4.5" lift and IMO is the easiest setup on the truck. Of the RCD lifts I have seen the cv angles are perfect and the trucks look great. I think 6" is too much for 33s, but 4.5 is ok

I changed my mind 300 times when I bought mine too. I started with a 3" spacer lift. Then I went with what I have now, ICON's all around.

If i had it to do again I would have done a 6" DB lift from the start, no questions. Thing is I have so much dumped into my ICON lift, I don't see me doing a 6" lift at this point, unless I was to add a lame body lift, which I don't see happening either. Although gayer things have been done by others LOL.

Ive off ro0aded in them. Higher CG, same ground clearance......a 3" lift is better off road. with the right suspension. A High CG is bad for off roading. And the lowered cross member gets hit on small to medium sized rocks. With a 3" and a decent skid plate, you can slide over them.

I've never once felt top heavy running with alex and Jake etc (badass trucks) and I've never had a problem with the drop bracket receiving damage. I am having custom skids made tho

See how many guys run a 6" lift on TTORA. You dont have to "feel" top heavy, in order to BE top heavy. The DB lift raises the CG 6". A 3" lift keeps it lower. Thats why most folks that are into off raoding try to get the largest tire on the least lift. Alot of SAC guys are trying to get their trucks lower, to lower the CG.

I understand that but my point is that they aren't as bad as everyone makes then out to be. I'm just saying I have yet to have a single problem and have been wheeling often

I am running 285's (33" tire) on a 3 inch lift with almost no cutting. I removed the mudflaps, got new rims with 4.5 backspacing, and just pulled back a little of the flimsy plastic in the wheel wells and I have zero rubbing. I didnt have to chop the cab mount and I definitely don't need another inch and a half of lift.

OP, from what you use your truck for, I would say go with the 3" lift and 33's. Personally, I like the tires to fill up the wheel wells as much as possible, rather than all the extra space with 33's and a 6" lift. I also think you would like the 3" more for putting so many miles on your truck as a daily driver. But, if you think you will regret not doing the 6" then go for it. I'd say it's better that way than to put money into something your not completely satisfied with, and end up changing it down the road. Just my opinion. Good luck!

Come to Hawaii and you'll see all types of lifted tacomas. From 3" to 12".

From true off road to pavement pounders.

But as always 6" fabtech without a doubt.

I went with a 3" and 285's. Only minor trimming to inner fender ( can't hardly tell). Little difference in MPG. Rides good and gained 5" overall in height. Looks good.

With my experience, I have never run into a situation where a 3" lift could go and I couldn't. Just my $.02. :p

I only have a 3" but i'm with you. Those situations might exist, but im sure the vast majority of us wont encounter anything offroad that a 3" lift will charge but a 6" wont make it. I would say, for most of us with our DD trucks (sounds like the OP is included in this), the most important thing is that you're happy with it. So, if that would be 6" then go for it. Either one will probably be jus as capable as the other in most Offroad situations. That's just my opinion.

i'd say 3" i have a 3" ULK in mine and i have the same clearance as a 6" pro comp on 35's, keep in mind i didn't install the diff drop. the cutting to fit the cab mount chop isn't bad. there are plenty of places i wheel i'm glad i don't have a higher lift , my truck hits too many trees as it is.
