01-04 Leather Seats ???

Did you do this? Where did you get the stock seat? Just from a junk yard? Thanks. Don

 

This might be a good idea; then I could keep my bench but get it fixed and then get it improved. You say a "local shop"; what kind of local shop? apolstery shop?

 

I guess it's all about your body shape/size. I also don't like leather, much prefer cloth.

I LOVE my seats. I've put 100,000+ miles on it, and would do 2,000+ mile road trips in the summers. Great seats, imo.

But maybe that's because I've had it so long it's worn in to the shape of my ass...

 

I picked up a set of used katskinz on ebay last year for under $300 and re-did them myself on my 2nd gen. I have been very happy with them. It took about 90 minutes per seat and only required one special tool, which was a set of hog ring pliers and some hog rings.

I beleive 3rd gen 4Runner limited seats will bolt into a tacoma.

The 3rd gen 4Runners are very similar to the best gen Tacos. I can't say for sure if the seats fit, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The front suspension is nearly identical too.

 

I want leather

 

Yes, Iv never done it but I’ve heard they will fit. You can even take the door Panals and side mirrors and have color matched electric side mirrors. (They came painted) With leather door panels that match the seats. Just need a donor car.

 

I did it, a few weeks ago found some 3rd gen 4runner seats out of 2002 in a junkyard.

Not a direct bolt in, had to fab both legs near the doors.




Well worth the swap, I sit a bit higher and that lumbar support is nice

I came across a CL post locally of a guy selling his truck. It has leather seats. Trying to reach out to see if he will trade me for my cloth seats... lol probably not,... but maybe I can find out where they are from.
Looks like there is a logo on the back just cant read it from these pictures. Here are a few pictures.
Oh and swaping out 3rd gen 4runner seats in a double cab requires a bit of modification. and as far as I know the rear bench seat wont fit the Tacoma.

 

That's probably a Limited. Some, but not all, iirc, had leather seats from the factory.

 

Mine is a limited but came with cloth seats
I think this is an after market kit because it has some sort of logo on the lower part of the seats back side.

 

Mine has Leather. It was a dealer package from Katzkin. It is starting to wear though and have thought about getting it touched up.

 

Like I said, some, but all, Limiteds had leather, as far as I know... It's not impossible that the Limiteds also has some fancy logos on the leather, too. My 1986 4Runner had "Turbo" embroidered on the front seats.

It's that, or someone reupholstered the cloth seat frames.

 

I tired to look up a kit from Katzkin and they don't even offer a set for tacomas. only 4 runners.

I actually did a price request for a 02 4runner from Katzkin and they gave me a quote of 1,400.00...(and before discount it was 2,000.00)
Umm what? is it just me or is this price outrageous? ​

 

My 04 has leather, as previously mentioned probably added at the dealer. I do not have any pics of interior at this time

 

do you recall if your seats have any logos or markings. Wondering if they all came from Katzkins.
