Mine also don't have the logos I just have the same colors and pattern. It is nice, but I would never pay to have leather put in. It's too much. BTW @BlackPearl your Truck is insane.

Thanks, its been a journey with this truck :D

and yea I was hoping cost would be around 200-300 for the kit but other wise I cant justify spending more on leather seats.

You can do the fronts on your own for about 450$
Hot rod upholstery on ebay, ...for 3rd gen 4R. ..also check YT for vids on how to do it your self. Takes a day or so of work and is a great improvement. Add a bit of padding and reinforcement too, not much tho or it will be challenging to get it back together.

@4xdog ya I sure can tomorrow I’ll snap some when it’s daylight. It’s a light grey color and the truck is the lunar mist paint scheme also.

Still cool either way with the leather. A lot of people think they don’t exist, I have read that all over the internet.

I know this is an old resurrected thread, but when I bought my Tacoma new in ‘01, the popular mod then was to switch out the factory cloth covers with Katzkin brand leather covers. Many Toyota dealers offered this service at time of truck purchase if the buyer wanted leather. I never cared to have leather, but I did take advantage of the still “new” factory cloth takeoffs on eBay, just in case I should ever have high wear or damage to my cloth seats. I believe I got the whole set, front and back with headrests covers for a doublecab, for the winning bid of $50. I sold the rears to another eBayer for $20, as I have an extra cab and have no need for the rears. I still haven’t needed them, as my seats still look great, but will never part with them as long as I still own the truck.

Anyway, for those interested in leather today, Katzkin was the company making them for Tacomas back then. Haven’t checked to see if they still offer them for 1’st gens, but chances are they’ve been dropped by now.

Edit: I just checked Katzskin’s website, and 2005 is as far back as they go for Tacomas now. Might be worth a call to see if special orders are available? I’d think they would still have patterns archived?

Second Edit: I just now read over this whole thread, and I see that Katskin leather has already been discussed. BTW, member EnolaGaia’s post #9 of this thread is correct. Tacomas never had leather from the factory. If you have an original window sticker for your truck stating leather, it was a dealer add on. It was quite common back then. A build sheet search would be the final confirmation.

Contrary to popular belief I dont have leather Tacoma seats and never had em.. only have some oem Sport buckets in my truck and some standard buckets in charcoal I am not using laying around! Sport buckets below for reference if you can find them are super comfy oem bolt in seat upgrades from 01-04 SRunners or Limited models. Not leather but an ergonomic upgrade big time.

It may be easier to find 3rd gen 4runner seats which are very similar (but different) in leather (at least in tan) and modify them a bit to make them fit in the Tacoma, there is a swap thread on here showing the process and you can see my build thread where I did install some cloth 3rd gen 4runner seats in my 02 standard cab and showed how I did it. I had some cloth see below, but the mounting would be the same and of course a similar comfort upgrade.

I do have leather seats in my 3rd gen too though, so I guess @Sebz13 was not too far off!! Both the Tacoma sport buckets and the 3rd gen 4runner seats are way more comfortable than the standard Tacoma buckets, leather or no leather. The cushions are thicker and way more supportive side bolstering too, plus you get a ride height option and lumbar adjustments for the driver seats (power on the Sport bucket which needs wiring to work but a manual knob on the 4runner seat). My test trucks, headrest removed from the Sport buckets for a bit more reclining room in the standard cab.

    20221202_135734.jpg

Hope this helps you get more comfortable in your truck, the seats are by far the most needed upgrade in these 1st gens!
