01-04 Made-to-Order Satoshi Grills

Even a flat black surround needs a quality finish if it is going to last - I've had several grills done like that in the past. My paint shop guy does a great job with an automotive quality Matte Black.

The grill above I consider a custom build & the cost was $470 + shipping IIR.

 

Figures you'd get a couple when I just ordered stuff for my truck....I'm gonna have to put money to the side for whenever you get another I can get it!lol

 

I do have one available... I'm just waiting on the outer surround of the one I currently have in progress: the first 01-04 "ghost raptor" grill.

 

Have you made a 2nd gen in one of these?

NEVERMIND.... dang that's twice this week. Having been off of TW has made me weak!

Is is spoken for and is the same mesh used as the 2nd gen?

 

I've got a blank 01-04 on hand - it can be almost anything the end user wishes it to be.

This was truly a blast to build - I love talking a concept designed for one model year and modifying it to suit another. In this case the "ghost raptor" mesh design which was made for the 2012-2015 models was altered to fit the 01-04.

The challenge with this is the 12-15 grill is pretty much a flat finished surface whereas the 01-04 has a distinct contour top to bottom and side to side.

When I made the Mx grill with the raptor letters I cut the inner surround completely flat to accept a flat mesh in order to be able to place the letters.

I'd this case the letters are part of the mesh so I was able to keep the curves on the top,bottom and sides.

Some may not even notice the difference but to me it is drastic.

Very pleased with the outcome of this build - I hope the purchaser is as well.

 

Is it possible to do ghost letters on the MX mesh???

That's a very good question Brent. I have actually tried doing it a couple of times but the results were less than satisfactory. The Mx slotted hole pattern is the issue - something gets lost in the translation.
I'll post a pic to illustrate, hang on.
