added factory roof rack, factory skid plate, removed cheesy running boards, built a pvc bike rack, added interior floor lighting, added decal plate under rear window, added sylvania silverstars, installed toytec ultimate 3" lift, added hella optilux yellow fog lights, added orange park lights to the turn signals, new 265/75/16 goodyear duratracs tires and raceline rockcrusher 16" wheels
those of you with 01-04 dbl prerunner trucks that put on 285 size tires...did you see a big difference in your speedometer accuracy?....how far is it off?

    thanks

I have a 4x4 but it definantly throws the speedo off. when you get to highway speeds its about 3-4 mph slow

its not that great... according to my GPS, a full tank gets me about 150-185 miles, depending on how hard i drive it...

on my last job, i had a 72 mile daily commute (both ways) and i was filling up (running gas tank just below 1/4 tank) every 3 days...

on weekends that we offroad, im filling up 2 to 3 times between friday and sunday...

i think at one point, on a normal work week, i was dropping about $90 a week... on weeks with an offroad weekend, it was jumping up to about $120 to $150 a week...

figure that we offroad at least once a month, or every other weekend, it adds up pretty quick...

but even now, i work from home and really only drive my kid to school and some on location shoots around L.A. county... i typically gas up Sunday, Wednesday, and sometimes Friday...

thank goodness for Costco gas at $2.80 a gallon...

oops.. i meant 250 miles to the tank, not 150..

i keep putting off the regear...

cost of parts has been delaying me...

    haha

I love the 285's! my mileage did go down about 2mpgs but not enough to really matter, and the speedo is maybe 3mph off/slow. But there again not a big deal.
I think that the look, fuction and cost is well worth the little loss in mpg's!:D

I have 285/75-16s on my Taco that came with stock 265/75s and had wondered exactly how much the speedo was off as well. I got a TomTom GPS unit that tells you the MPH, and it seems to be off more than I thought. At 30-40 MPH on the speedo, the TomTom reads about 3-4 MPH faster. When I got on the highway and was doing ~70 MPH according to my speedo, the TomTom was reading 77-78 MPH. It's actually more than I thought it would be off.
