Is that a set of mudflaps I see you made in one of the pictures? Or the skeleton for a set should I say....

It's a semi truck flap cut in half. They are plastic too, was surprised to see that when I got em. Eco flaps I think they are called. Quite a bit less ugly than big 'ol floppy rubber flaps

Thanks, I was gonna ask about those. Look a lot lighter and less ugly than the usual ones I see. I think Matt is running them too?

Tied the front bumper into the shock hoops, finished up the radiator skid, 90% done with the transmission skid. The mounts that bolt to the motor are only 22ga for now, going to make them out of 1/4" plate this weekend. Hope to skid the rear section around the transfer case this weekend too. Less than 2 weeks before I'll be on the Rubicon again! First time in 6 years, I hope I remember where the trail goes [IMG] Really tired of working on this truck day in and day out [IMG] Good news is the brakes are working good after I put an AISIN T100 brake master in. Lets hope it continues to work good [IMG]

Brian are you bolting the skid mounts to the block? Any concern with stress on the block from a hard landing on the skid?

Sol, yeah its bolted to the block. I'm probably going to add one more hard tie in to the frame on the exhaust side to keep that section of skid from flexing. The rear is hard mounted with ID tube clamps but I really need a hard mount up front so it totally keeps the skid from moving but still allows the drivetrain to flex on the bushings.

I saw your truck parked in a driveway during the Alameda 4th of July Parade. I drooled so much I think I stained my shirt. Nice work!

I can't! I won't have time to build a rear bumper before the trip, unfortunately :( I have a good idea of what I want to build but I won't be able to squeeze in any time to get it done.

Finished up the skid this past weekend and tied the front of it into the motor with 1/4" plate. I don't think it's going anywhere Trucks ready to roll for Rubicon this weekend. Also replaced the output seal on the transfer case going to the rear driveshaft. It was leaking everywhere, I think someone thought by tightening the flange nut down to 200+ ft lbs, it would stop leaking but it didn't. I literally had both feet on a 2 foot long breaker bar to break the nut loose Factory torque is 87ft lbs.

That was the plan from the beginning :) I have an eye for detail and wasn't going to settle for half as good as it could be. Except the rear suspension, I just don't have money to link the back yet :D You obviously won't see me plasti dipping the grill or dumb flashy shit like that. I like the look of a completely stock body but ridiculous on suspension/tires/wheels.

Truck did awesome on the Rubicon this weekend  Really not a huge fan of having the soft top on the truck but it serves its purpose well. Stacked it to the very top with camping gear for myself and my buddy and his gf then I slept in the bed at night. Pretty damn comfy!

Put some new 40" Nittos on. WAY better than those BFGs I had. Truck is noticeably slower now, oh well. Time for a V8
