I've finally started putting together my lift kit for my '01 Double Cab Tacoma and I would like to be able to use a pair of 12" Fox 2.0 Smooth Body Remote Reservoir Shocks. Does anyone have suggestions on how to valve them? If more information is needed, please let me know.

For most accurate valving recommendations we'll need to know:
How much weight you regularly carry in the bed/truck
what type of driving do you want it to be optimized for (High speed desert, crawling, driving to work/school)

I'd contact micah or sonny at down south motorsports, they're experts with this sort of thing.

Currently, it weights right around 3900 lbs.. Later down the road I do plan to Line-x the bed and add a bed rack. That'll probably way about 50ish lbs.. As well as soon, I'll be adding bumpers so they will add on about 200 lbs.. After all the modifications I have in store for the future, it'll probably weight in at the 4400 lbs. mark but that a while down the road. For now, it weights 3900 lbs..

As for driving, this is my daily driver, but that isn't to say that I don't plan to wheel this truck. My ambition for this truck is to build it into a weekend rock crawler and weekday daily driver.

I'll make sure to contact DownSouth Motorsports next week and see what they have to say about this.

    Thanks.

You have a double cab that weighs 3900?
That's 200 #'s lighter than my single cab was when I weighed it months ago.

Anyway. What setup do you plan on using for running 12" shocks? Those are very long and will bottom out unless you A) have 6" of lift or B) completely limit the up travel of the axle.

I plan to run Icon Coilovers in the front. For the rear I plan to use Dakar Leaf Spring with the D6XL Add a leaf and All Pro Off-road 1.5"+ Tacoma Spring Shackles as well as the 12" Fox Shocks.

If you're running these in the stock locations (or anywhere close) 12's will still probably be too long. I'd say you'd be best with 10's.

I ran 10's with a 3" lift and now need 12's for my ~5-6" lift.

If I were to do a U bolt flip and relocate the shocks, then would they fit?

It depends on where you put the mounts.
I have a kip kit with stock upper mounts and the lower mounts mounted on the centerline of the axle.

If you move the mounts down under the centerline of the axle you'd gain a couple inches, I suppose.

Alright. I'll keep that in mind. I suppose, from what I've heard, that it's probably a better idea to just go with the shorter shocks, probably a set from Icon for the rear of my truck. Well, it was worth a shot. Thanks.
