Fox 2.0 Coilovers in the front and Fox 2.0’s in the rear, Total Chaos UCA’s, Al-lpro expo leafs, K&N cold air intake, TRD headers,Magnaflow catback exhaust,URD short throw shifter, switched out my 60/40 bench seat for some Tacoma Limited seats, Replaced the vinyl shift boot for a leather one, completely soundproofed the cab w/ Frost King. Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
How long of a procedure is it to remove the bed of the truck? I have the POR-15 and want to coat my frame and would really like to get as much of the frame I can. Am I looking at a weekend or 3-4 days type of Job?

You could pull the bed off in less than a 1/2 hour with a friend to help you lift

Awesome! Thanks, I’m going to look into the “How to” and get it done as soon as I can.

    Hey y'all!

finished with the frame swap itself last Thursday! got it towed back to my house so I didn't have to hear anymore about it from the owners of the house. they really hated it even though I managed to get it done in 11 working days without a single power tool. anyways, now I just need to get things together to finish this up and have it drivable again.

gotta order fluids this week. one of the mounting screws for the drivers side strut assembly broke so its only attatched by 2 for now. was thinking about upgrading to the 5100 set up. gotta get new skid plates and new fender clips. all pretty simple. was able to get brake lines from the junk yard. may head there again wed to see what all else I can salvage.

one weird thing that happened that I can't figure out what to do about is the front pass side bed screw initially grabbed and screwed on tight, but when I loosened them all to rout wires something changed and now it just spins freely. I tried using a pry bar to snug it down and screw it tight but it didn't work. any ideas???

I ended up pulling some good replacements from the yard and just looked inside the ones I tore and some at the yard to try to figure out what order they needed to be in. and thankfully it worked!

Bump! How’d it go? Finished? How long did the project take you? What year was your donor frame vs your truck? I’m considering this same job.

from starting to take the truck apart and finishing the swap itself (not including finding the frame/getting the truck running well) it took about 80-100 hours. I posted an update about how I used the truck to move from Memphis to San Francisco hauling a fully loaded trailer, bed, and cabin packed to the brim. the truck did amazing! sooooo worth it considering. now im using it to explore mountains, beaches, and camping! the frame was from an extended cab 04 with an auto trans and my truck is an 01 ext cab manual. both were trd. I say go for it if you have the gall. it takes a lot of will power to not get overwhelmed by it all. esp the moments of remounting the cab.
