    All,
My '01 Tacoma TRD, sets a P0505 code. When cold, the truck starts a little hard and idles low for the first few seconds, then is normal. As the engine temp rises, the idle goes up. It runs and drives fine. Once good and warm and out on the road for a bit, when I come to a stop, it's obviously idling fast. If I shift it into neutral, the RPM is 1600 or so. I'm going to take my scopemeter home from work and look for power and ground as well as the square wave drive signal to the IAC valve. Assuming that all looks good, I'm going to dismantle all the way back past the throttle body. Any "gotcha's" I need to look out for? Is there coolant lines to worry about? Dooes anybody have the section in a '01 repair manual they could copy?

    Thanks!!

    Cam

Mine never caused a CEL code but when my idle was off I just removed the IAC valve cleaned it and the throttle body with carb cleaner, replaced the gasket, reinstalled it and now it idles fine. Yours might just need cleaning. Make sure you order or purchase the gasket before you remove it because it will stretch and will not fit back in the gasket groove, at least mine didn't. Good luck.
