hey guys im new to the forum. i have a 2001 toyota tacoma xtra cab 4 cylinder 2.7L 4wd auto. ive been looking for a full exhaust because mine is rusted out. i was thinking doing a full exhaust including cat. my question is all the websites are asking me if my truck is a DLX, s-runner, or prerunner. im pretty sure its not a prerunner. but how do i figure out exactly what it is?

Sorry I'm not well versed in the 4cyl crowd, but there is def a following here and I'm surprised u don't have more help here.

I can say that making the exhaust too free flowing will affect your tq curve and numbers.

Username Tooter has tried quite a few things and has dynoproof..... Look for him

Or check my recent posts, I just recently replied to him in another thread and included his dyno sheet.

I'm on my phone and its not playing nice.

Never mind, it allowed me to copy the link.... Post number 45 I quoted him and his sheet.... I'd shoot him a private messege, he seems to be a good asset for the 4cyl crowd from what I have seen.

    Hey vin, :)

I like running the stock exhaust with a header, and had this LCE on my 1996 2.4 for a decade. (And by the way, that's what it looks like after 10 years. The ceramic coating held up extremely well. )

They also make a similar header for your 2.7.

At $399 they aren't cheap, but they are one of the very best mods you could do to your 3RZ. You could always find a cheap used stock exhaust to fit your truck, because guys are always taking them off to install aftermarket ones.

The stock exhaust retains enough backpressure to retain the low end torque, while the header allows the engine to hit the torque peak at lower rpms.

    It's a win/win. :)

hey still a little lost when trying to replace my exhaust. dont think im going to do the headers but i want to do from the headers back. can someone point me in the right direction for a full exhaust. it looks like i have 2 cats on the truck right? ied rather only go with one. just a basic aluminized exhaust from the header back. mine is rusted and rattles way too much. thanks for the help. hope someone can point me in the right direction.
