01 Tacoma not shifting automatically

My 01 tacoma with a factory 3.4l and automatic transmission isn't shifting ever since I removed the stock gauge cluster. I have aftermarket gauges but not running a speedo. If I plug in my gauge 2 it shows speed as we jumped 2 of the wires together. Has to be something else I'm missing.

 

The transmission is computer controlled .
With this said , your computer needs to read a vehicle speed in order to upshift .
If you had the dash removed , there is a good chance the computer in the truck does not see the vehicle moving forward , therefore ----no upshift

There's a ton of info there. But I'm seeing the info needed to fix my issue. With the scan gauge installed it's telling me speed other then I know it's way off do to axle gearing. Roughly 30mph off do to gearing. With the scan gauge reading speed through the obd2 port I'd assume the Ecm is getting the signal. But I read somewhere about possibly 2 speed sensors?

If you look at the diagram on the pdf , it looks like the speed signal goes into the dash and then to the ecm .
Do you have abs on the truck ?
There are three speed sensors . input speed sensor , output speed sensor and vehicle speed sensor . The sensor you need to concentrate on drives the dash speedometer .
Do you have a wiring diagram for your truck ?

 

Truck never had abs. It does have the ect button on the dash though. Cruise control has been discontinued at the steering wheel do to quick release and aftermarket steering wheel. I don't have a full diagram. I can't open the link in tapatalk acting weird since CT is part of auto guide.

Off the factory cluster plug. I soldiered a green/red and green/orange together. After that is when scan gauge started reading speeds again

 

Are you getting any codes with the scan guage ? If the transmission is not shifting , there should be a code stored in the ecm memory identifying why the transmission doesnt shift
The instrument cluster could be responsible for changing the ac signal from the speed sensor to a dc signal in order for the ecm to read the information .

 

There was no codes last I checked. I'll check again when I go to pull the truck off the trailer

coming off the sender, there's a pink-power, Green/red- signal, blue-ground.

I have green/red attached to green/orange. That should send the signal the ecu. In theory that should send the signal to the ecu. Wondering if the blue off the sensor needs to be grounded to the chassis.
