hoping to get some input on this.

bought my 01 tacoma stock, 265/70/r16 general grabber at2's, and started the build.

first, I bought pro comp 69 bullet hole wheels, -12 offset, 4.5 backspacing.

I noticed that after I put the pro comps on, I had a lot of scrubbing on the flares, which I did not have with stock.

I planned on lifting it soon so I didn't worry too much about it. I had the bilstein 5100 shocks already, and a bigger leaf pack in the rear, so all that I had to add was the coils. I got the toytec 3'' coils and put them on, no scrubbing.

Now, Im needing new tires, and want a bigger size. My friend has an 04 tacoma, same lift, and everything, but is running procomp 89 wheels. He fits 285/75/16 KO2's with no problem
I went to see how close 285's would be on my truck, and realized, I had about a 1/2-1'' between the tire and the fender. That confused me since my friend has 2'' bigger tires and didn't have any scrubbing at all.

I have no idea how has has so much more room in his wheel wells, its like his axle sits farther forwards than mine...

anyone run into this problem? Help if ya can, thanks.

I'm in a similar situation. I have 285/75-16s on '05-ish OEM 16x7 steel rims with +32 offset. With the 1.25" spacers, I'm about -1 offset. I rub on the frame at full lock (not badly) and on the rear of the flares when "flexing." If your Pro Comps are 8" wide, that -12 offset should put you right around 4" of bs. Maybe more negative offset would help? :notsure:

See this visual representation of stock alloys vs 16x8 rims with -12 offset and 285/75-16 tires.

1st gen stock backspace is 4.5"

to upsize tires, besides lift, you want to go with 4" or 4.25" backspace wheels...

back when stock, i ran a 4.25" backspace wheel with 265-75-16 and then a 4" backspace wheel with 285-75-16 with no rubbing issues... you may have to adjust the alignment a bit and move them 1 to 2 degrees forward i think it was to keep the tires away from the body on full turns...
