Today I replaced the light underneath my gearshift and after putting all the components back together I tried moving but the shifter seems to be stuck. I've already tried pressing down on the plastic bit to release the shiftlock but that doesn't work either. I've checked all my fuses and none of which are blown. Please help!

did you take apart anything from the actual shifter or just pull the light when the console cover was off?

I checked all my fuses, outside the cab and inside and none are blown. I did unscrew the shifter but did not take it off the metal part. At this point I don't really know what else to try

take the console and shifter cover off and try to see if something is blocking the button's movement.

I know I'll catch heat for this but did you press the brake pedal before you tried? :D

The button is moving freely and I can see the other components moving around. The shifter seems to be connected by a wire. Do I pull it off?
Yes I did press the brake pedal. Misread what you said there :)

I had the same problem. The actuator under the button is either twisted or the plunger is misaligned. Take it back apart and try again.

The button that activates the shifter to be moved somehow reversed itself and would slide along the plate that is pushed down. If that makes any sense
