01 Tailgate latches

Does anyone know the part number to these latches? Or if the rubber pieces in them can be replaced? I have had no luck finding anything. Thanks!

I'm not sure it's listed in that picture. I took a picture of my tailgate latch that is missing the piece I am talking about.
The piece was white plastic and kept the sliding piece centered in the latch. You can see the square outline where the plastic used to be.

 

Do you want to do both sides or just the one?

My tailgate rocked back and forth. Even popped open a few times when I hit a bump. Rubber bumpers are fine. I could grab a latch with my fingers and rock it back and forth. I've lubricated the latches over the years and remembered a plastic bushing, but both had vaporized. Searched google images for a picture of the latch and sure enough my plastic bushings were missing. I also saw the picture in post #10 which looked exactly like my latch - missing the plastic bushing.

Toyota is 65780-35020 right. 65790-35030 left. With Toyota the latches come with the rods attached. Best price I found was on ebay $85.45 for the pair with free shipping.

Dorman is 38729 right. 38728 left. Best price I found was Rock for $79.37 with shipping. The rods are not included - just reuse the originals.

I have the standard bed. When you search the Toyota parts it warns that the latches I bought are not for stepside or double cab. With Dorman it doesn't matter. My guess is that since Toyota includes the rods, the rods are different for stepside and double cab. My further guess is that it doesn't matter with Dorman because you reuse the old rods. I don't have a stepside or double cab to see if their latches are the same as my standard bed.

 

Was just searching for some of these latch bushings as well, and came across a seller on Etsy who looks to be 3D printing pairs of them for $14. For anyone else in need:

I designed and printed some for my truck years ago, but they never worked right. I was using PETG plastic but it would always get stuck. I tried making them larger, but then the slop was introduced again. I could probably refine it more, but I just determined that I needed a more slippery material and I didn't feel like buying a spool of something that "might" work better. Ultimately I found some cheap latches on ebay that had the pieces that I needed.
