I drive an 01 DC TRD. The lady that had the truck before had kids that climbed all over the interior and managed the break both front headrests. My head rests on the internal support bat and would not be happy in an accident..... not to mention that it's just not comfy. I did find another post where someone had this issue and the best advise was to look at junk yards. Well, there are no good yards around me so my question is this:

Has anyone taken their headrests apart to fix them or found a less expensive pair out there on the interwebs that would fit?

This happened to one of mine, I fixed it. Just took the cover off, moved the foam back up and wrapped it with duct tape. That was over two years ago and it's still working. It's slightly less soft than the other one but will still do its job in a crash.

Was it a pain in the backside or fairly easy?

Both of my POS headrests are destroyed.... but I can manhandle the piss out of them and get that bar behind the padding.

I wish there was an alternative headrest (one that actually allows your head to rest on it) out there.

I will say this though, with as poorly as they are made thank all that is good that they are not like some of the Subaru headrests that jut forward and cram your chin down because some egghead found it lessens whiplash a bit. I had to give my newer Subaru to my wife. Even she went back to an 04.

My '05 Legacy was like that. However at the right height it was quite comfortable for me at least.

I want make my own with a twin size tempur pedic pillow for a head rest
