Does it make odd vibrating noises at certain rpm range and then disappears
... That is what mine is doing usually after long hot runs on the highway
I Took it to a transmission shop and paid good coin for them to find absolutely nothing wrong with anything, even the old clutch they said is fully functional at over 300k

Prototype TVS1320 has arrived!! Coming in HOT

Teaser number #2 with some technical data.

I bought my 1997 single cab v6 new and added the Trd supercharger the following year when they 1st hit the market in late 1998.

Now at 750,000 miles later ( lots of supercharger rebuilds) it’s time for an upgrade with the newly designed TVS1320 supercharger from magnuson.

Installation and tuning the TVS1320 with the current haltech stand alone ECU with Gabe Salazar from snpspeed will follow on a new post shortly here.

    Enjoy!

Well the newest generation 3.4 TVS1320 supercharger has arrived.

So 1st Lets go over the differences between the two superchargers new and old style.

New superchargers Rotors will be 30 percent larger.

TVS1320 is 1320 cc per revolving, (air flow)

Old design is 1000cc per revolving,

TVS has 4 lobe rotors that are 160 degree twist,

Old supercharger is 3 lobe 60 degrees rotor twist,

TVS has Larger input and output sections on the supercharger,

TVS bearings are rated at 20k rpm’s,

Old supercharger rated at 12-14k rpm’s,

TVS power to run the supercharger is 10-15hp,

Old supercharger probably 30hp plus depending, TVS supercharger will be running a 3” two piece quick change pulley to slow it way down,

TVS will make 4 pounds of boost with this pulley to turn it much slower compared to 6 pounds of boost with the older supercharger to equal the same power output.

The TVS will be using a two piece pulley with 4 bolts and is not setup with a key way slot to deal with anymore.

So changing out the pulley will be super quick and easy.

The TVS with the 3” pulley will be rated at the same hp possibly a bit more to match the old supercharger so that the emissions requirements are the same and extensive emissions testing will not have to be done.

Rebuilding the TVS supercharger time mileage intervals should be much higher because the new bearings are rated at 20k and the TVS supercharger will be turning much slower and a reduction of heat.

The TVS1320 will have the ability to have a smaller pulley added, stock pulley will be 75mm (3”). A 70mm pulley possibly a bit smaller will work but needs to be made by Gaget URD or others. Because it’s a specific offset for this 3.4 there are no smaller pulleys available immediately unless a custom one is made.

For more boost past the 70mm pulley having the snout wall shaved where the pulley will be pushing into the snout probably will be another option. URD actually sells a snout cutter for the 4 liter magnuson supercharger that removes 10mm from the snout and sells a number of smaller pulley for this specific cut. I’m betting this might be a popular choice if there is a possibility for shaving.

The stock Pulley should be a 75mm, 4-rib w/2.286mm offset. This offset is what lines up the pulley to the tensioner. TVS will use the same dynamic tension setup as before.

The 1320 will have an ERG valve port for the 7th injector from URD and OR if your running an EGR valve and tube for emissions to the headers or stock exhaust WHICH might not be in the EXACT same location so that EGR pipe might have to be modified to fit for Emissions, but not 100 percent sure sure yet, will chime back in when I do the inspection.

As with the old supercharger you will be able to run it stock with the 3” pulley on stock ECU, But at the minimum you should have injector cleaned and serviced because each injector has a fuel filter, install a high flow fuel pump and add a vortech 3-1 FMU from snpspeed .com that has the correct size fittings and lines. An FMU will raise the fuel pressure in boost only and turn the stock injector 270cc into a 340cc injector ( as bench tested by Gabe Salazar) on demand.

You will be able to add the 7th injector kit from urd also for fuel and tuning, possibly a modified version? Gadget URD has the market cornered in making extensive styles, mods and smaller pulleys for magnuson superchargers and I’m sure will be chiming in with new pulley options.

I will be running the haltech ECU from SNPSPEED Gabe Salazar with an FMU as I had before on the previous TRD supercharger (I’ve been running the haltech ECU for 3 years now and it makes huge power gains in the lower and midrange rpm’s over the stock ECU) and he will have a specific tune setup for the TVS1320 if you go haltech.

I will then source out a smaller custom pulley 70mm or possibly getting the snout shaved for a smaller pulley and go from there to see the results with a dyno at a later date with comparisons. The TVS with the stock 3” pulley for me at 6000 feet will probably be soft on power hence getting the smaller 70mm pulley,

I have searched everywhere but can’t find any, where did you find these corner lights to match the grille? Did you paint some yourself?

I painted the edges myself, just use blue painters tape and a spray can of paint, very easy, maybe 15 minute job

I was referring to the lever arm. The Marlin site makes the arm look completely different and longer than what you have in your picture.

The one piece is the newer version that marlin makes, the other one is the old type or the original OEM with the rubber spacer used in the older version

@1997tacomav6 youre still running the TRD headers correct? Do the flanges to the crossover use spring bolts by chance?

    TRD S/C, ADS coilovers.
There were different iterations of the TRD Headers. Not only was there a redesign of how the crossover routes I’m pretty sure there were multiple different flange designs as well.

Do you feel that this was a worthwhile purchase?
$400 seems like a lot for a truck that isn't raced around a track.

This shift kit is by far the best out there in quality and design. It has nothing to do with racing.

it will change your shifts into smoother easier shifts. I have yet to grind my gears unlike the stock setup.
It’s in the top 5 of my best mods IMO

Remote tune done through the internet, amazing technology
