Shackles were not installed to increase load capacity but simply provide enough lift to counter the additional weight of the camper and swing out bumper. I've had a 2.5" AAL for about a year and a half and they are starting to sag same as the normal leaf pack. So its time to upgrade to something more substantial.

    Weekend thread update:

Got the retros installed. Overall the instal was pretty straight forward and simple. There were no instructions however with the help of Konaborne's write up and a few phone calls to TacoSkeet, I got them in and love them! The only issue I ran into was I couldn't get my hi-beams to work. After trying the suggestions they recommended (swapping two wires) I was still unsuccessful in having hi-beams. I sorted it out by swapping some wires around in the harness and now I have hi and low-beams. All in all I love these things. Great mod and I very highly recommend these to anyone. Thanks Andrew and the whole TRS team.

Still need to clean the lenses but here is the end result:

While I had the grill off and was working on the headlights I decided to go ahead and redo my grill. I wanted to ditch the brush guard and find a place to mount my PIAA's... so naturally I did a mesh grill and made a mount for my lights behind the grill. I used Dupli-color bedarmor in-a-can to paint the grill surround and wire mesh.

Also have the LED gauge cluster now thanks to TacoSkeet but I will post pics in the night time. Got my new UltraGauge mounted up too (thanks PhdNPrerunners)

As far as Kmok's question: Here are the pics of the jerry can mount. As I previously stated, I am going to bring the mount down to just above the recovery shackle but until I get some time to redo it, this is how it will stay.

Winch should be in this week. Hoping to have some time this week to get it mounted up if not I'll have to wait till this weekend. I have to make a run up to Illinois to pick up a toy TacoSkeet purchased on Saturday so that will eat up most of my day.

Thanks! :) Yeah, that will definitely cause some visibility issues with a jerry can mounted in there.

Yeah, its going to be placed on the back burner until I get the winch mounted. That takes priority.

Winch came in Monday. Just haven't had time to pick it up. Been laying sod at the house but hopefully, if all goes smoothly, I'll be able to get it tomorrow. I can't wait.

I was able to get the winch today, unfortunately it's still in the box and will probably stay there until tomorrow or Friday. I'm itching to get going on the new project. I'll post updates as they come along.

    I'll check it out.

have u got the winch on man? and what kind did u get? where did u mount it. i had thought about whenever i get one mounting it to the brush guard but not strong enough. probably go under it an make brackets to hold it in place. im thinkin soon ill have the sliders bedlined. as u can tell i want to get em on an a little impatient too. Haha!

I got the winch mounted Friday afternoon but ran out of time to mount the Hawse fairlead and run the wiring. I had a tee time for golf at 3:30 so I had to quit working on it unfortunately. Yesterday I ran up to Missouri to pick up a 1985 Honda Odyssey for TacoSkeet so I had zero time to work on it. I'm hoping today I will be able to wrap everything up and have the fairlead mounted and wires run. But first I have to finish up swapping out my slave and master cylinder for the clutch. It decided to take a crap on me yesterday on my way to work.

I ordered the Superwinch LP8500 and I am doing a hidden mount where all you will see is the fairlead and wire coming out of the bumper. When I had my Smittybilt winch I had it just temporarily mounted to the brush guard but it was purely asthetics. There is ZERO strength provided by a brush guard. I mounted it to a plate run between the frame rails in the front. I will post pictures later today probably if all goes smoothly instaling the slave and master cylinders.

I'm very familiar with that anxious feeling. I'm ready to be back in my truck instead of the family back up vehicle. (GMC Yukon) That thing is a gas guzzler. I spent almost $200 going to Missouri yesterday... that killed the wallet.

In which he will be reimbursed :D

Michael and I picked up a 1985 Honda Odyssey FL350. A super rare dune buggy/go kart only made for one year. We plan on fixing it up a little and reselling it and having a little fun along the way. It has a 700cc polaris snowmobile engine and it is a blast!

Got the Hawse fairlead mounted today and finished the mounting. All that's left to do is wire it up! I'm pumped with how it turned out. Its too dark out to get pics but tomorrow I will snap a few in the daytime.

The problem with the clutch ended up being the rubber boot at the end of the slave cylinder. It had worn through and all the fluid was being pumped out of the resivoir every time I pushed the clutch in. Unfortunately I didn't find this out to be the problem until after I had replaced the master cylinder and slave cylinder. Basically I wasted $75 because had I know it was just the boot, I would have bought the rebuild kit for $10. Oh well, nothing wrong with putting new parts on. I'm just glad the problem is fixed and I can drive it again.
