Fortunately, when I replaced my CV's about a month ago, I went with the Duralast CV's which come with a lifetime warranty. Since the diff drop the angle of the cv's is much better and hopefully won't have any problems out of them now.

Finally got the winch wired up and mounted. Just got a few more little things before I say it's "complete". It's fully functional and operational but just not 100% there. I need about 2 hours at the farm with a welder and grinder and then it will be complete. I love how it turned out though. Very well "hidden" and exactly what I wanted it to look like. Ended up have to relocate the control box and lengthen the wires between the winch and control box. Very please with the turn out.

    First opened the box:

Just kinda getting my gears turning and ideas rolling:

AWESOME MAN!!!! the trucks a beast. it turned out great how u have it hidden in behind the bumper. looks like it fits in their perfect. did the only thing u cut is the pieces in the middle of the valence opening? thats what i plan on doing when i get a winch. anyways looks bad ass man good work.

Yeah, I trimmed the lower valence a bit by removing the middle two vertical pieces/a little bit of the metal as well. Not too much trimming was needed, I obviously wanted to trim as little as possible to maintain the "factory" looks of the bumper. I trimmed just enough to clearance everything. Thanks. Appreciate the compliments

How do you have the winch mounted? I hope you have more than just the flimsy front crash beam. That thing is held on by just a couple bolts and those aren't very secure.

Love the stealth look but make sure that thing is mounted on some beefy material directly on the frame before you ever use it.

Currently the winch is on a 1/4" plate spanning the gap between the frame rails. I still plan for about 2 hours of to welding will finish and button up all that. I have to add a brace behind the back of the plate as well as gussets to provide extra Strength. The only "pull" I've done so far is winding the cable onto the spool. Hoping to get a few hours to be able to button it up this weeked.

Truck went into the shop today. Something is wrong in the 4wd. I didn't feel like tackling it so my neighbor (certified mechanic) took it into his shop this evening. Hopefully whatever the problem is, it isn't a big deal and I can get it back soon.

Probably not. Going to sell it all as is. It will look kinda goofy with the lower valence trimmed up and no winch there. I'll let you know if I change my mind though.

Why u thinkin about selling man? gettin another Tacoma or what? Ive always thought thats a bad ass lookin truck u have built it an all. I got me a winch about 3 weeks or so ago. cant wait to install it. also got some projectors commin again since the first set that came would not work cause of the wiring harness.

Just time for something new. It's been a good truck, learned a lot through the process. I just need something a little bigger and newer I guess. I might get a 4Runner. Again, I'm not for sure selling, just throwing out the idea of selling and throwing some numbers out there to see if there is a good amount of interest.

Thank you. I loved the thing.

Unfortunately sold the truck back in early January. I miss it but it was time to let it go. I had a blast building and wrenching on it. I learned a lot through this truck, skills that will stay with me for a long long time. Still a Toyota guy at heart even if I don't drive one anymore.
