Hello all. This is my first post. Recently bought a 02 2.4 with about a 144k on her and she is absolutely awesome. I searched the forum and couldn't seem to find anything about timing chain issues, which surprised me (please post link if I have just missed it). But I had an 89 22re 4x4 some time ago and it was a pretty well known fact that the only killer of those engines was when your t-chain guides start to go bad and could be confirmed by what was called the TOD, or simply tick of death. Can anyone confirm for me here that that is also an issue with the 2.4. I believe they are still an interference motor and I fear I might be hearing the TOD with her... I don't know a whole lot about these motors as I have just gotten the vehicle, but I want to give her a good home and take care of her right. Thanks!
