Also in my opinion you guys basically already said above why the exhaust thing works out.. When you clean or fix something the computer resets itself and idles a little higher 700/750 RPMs.. Which also means the engine can push the exhaust out easily enough. But when the ecu readjusts and goes back to 650 RPMs the engine has trouble pushing the exhaust out again.

I checked this morning and my RPMs were right around 650.

Yeah I know but the idle issue was fixed for a good 3 weeks. Not just a couple days

When I last reset my computer (ie taking out battery to replace plugs) right after I took it out and the engine was warmed up it went right back again to crappy idle. Im not sure if cleaning the IAC helped it work for like 600 miles and then it crapped out again...that's the only thing i could think may be wrong

When I cleaned my iac it helped for a couple days, when I replaced my iac it helped for a week or two. I remember when I was cleaning it the little door wouldn't open/close very easily.

One thing I do still need to replace is the charcoal canister and some of the little electronic valves attached to it. I tested the charcoal canister according to toyotas instructions and it failed the last test. One of the electronic valves on the canister is pretty noisy while driving (I think that's what the noise is anyways..) however I highly doubt fixing this will have an impact on my idle vibes.

I'm right there with you man I want to find the cure too. At this point I've felt hopeless for years about it. lol..

Im kinda stuck on what to do...my mechanic told me the IAC is the only thing they could think is wrong. But obv they aren't sure if replacing it would fix the issue. It'd really be nice if the truck would throw a code. At this point I'm pissing in the wind

Lol I had one of those too.. Get some MAF sensor cleaner.. IMO dump it and get an OEM filter from camel back parts or get a pro dry AFE filter.

I doubt that's the source of your vibes though. It will feel nice for a few days or so when you get the new filter.

Edit: is it the whole intake tube or just the filter?? If it's the intake tube you could probably get an AFE filter that would fit it too.

The tube is fine but I personally don't like the filters because of the oil factor. Not sure if you have ever cleaned it before but you have to oil it after you clean it. Over oil it and risk having it get on you MAF.

Honestly I wouldn't be too concerned about your filter unless it's really dirty or really oily. I'd still get the MAF cleaner if you haven't already.. 5$ and it might help a little.

I wonder if the maf is bad after all tho since I did have a code for it a while back but hasn't come back since. I know that could cause a rough idle

It's really hard to say.. Have you checked for cracked vacuum hoses?

It's a pretty expensive part just like the iac.. I replaced mine, but not sure if it was OEM or not.. I've always wondered if it could be because it might not be OEM.. Lol. But I wouldn't bet money on that's why my idle is rough.

How did the wires look inside of the MAF? Did they look burnt at all?

In the maf the wires didn't look that bad with the first initial cleaning and they are decently shiny now. Mechanic did 2 full vacuum checks on the engine and didn't find any leaks. Did a lot of different checks for me for two full days.

Its weird that I only had that maf code once ( p0100 and 0110) and I would think if the maf was truly bad it would come back. I believe those two codes are the circuit malfunctions for iat and maf

I dunno you could try it but I don't think that's the culprit I agree I feel like a code would pop up if it were bad.. when I first cleaned my original one it looked kinda burnt and still wasn't throwing a specific code for the MAF. I was having misfires.

Yeah I def don't really wanna throw money at parts if I don't have to. I've never had any misfire codes or any misfires at all. Just the rough idle and slight hesitation of acceleration. When it idled smooth I had more responsive acceleration

Just re oiled the filter and letting it sit overnight to dry. Didn't overkill it on the oil. Just so it turned slightly pink

    Well hopefully it does something.

I will find my idle vibes someday. I still have high hopes for that exhaust thing for my vibes lol..
