wondering what this blank plate is for? Anyone know?
Tried google searching but nothing comes up. I'm curious as to what should be there, or did toyota developers leave that that room for additional switches.

    Thanks

Some models have clocks put in that location like little old digital clocks. they get stolen a lot though my dads got stolen when i was about 10.

For Tacoma I believe it is for passenger side airbag on/off switch (not my truck, not my image) . The clock was always in that stupid place where nobody can see the time.

Nice thanks guys that was fast.
Now since mine is a 2002 and doesn't have it, would there be any reason for why I would want the option to put this in my truck?
I mean shouldn't air bags be on all the time anyways?

I'm guessing you have a Double Cab? That's where the passenger airbag cutoff switch would be (in case you wanted to put a carseat or something in the front seat in an ext. cab or standard cab). It was automatically always on in the Double Cabs since they had rear seats and there wasn't a need for one.

Yep, this. Had a 2000 EXTCAB and it had the funky ignition key manual cut off for the passenger airbag.

In the DoubleCab its a great spot to add your Zombie Light switch :transformer:

Doublecabs don't need it - airbags always on. It's in case you want to put a car seat or young child in the front seat of an access cab.

Edit: What @BartMaster1234 said. I'm slow.

The clock was designed with the 95-00 steering wheel in mind. When Toyota updated the interior in 2001, they changed the steering wheel which blocked the view of the clock. The more you know....

Haha, I guess I do. It looks like you took that picture from the right slightly. When I have my seat in a driving position I can see the clock just above the wiper switch. I can't see the whole clock, just the part with numbers (important part).

Back then I was rich and had a clock

These days I am poor and my 01 double cab doesn't even have a clock

So not an issue for me

Us poor folk don't need to know what time it is :)

If I got a booster seat, might as well buy a real truck too

    I wouldn't need a girly man 1st gen ;)
