I got it. The clock has much more important function than just showing time. This is Eye-Position-Indicator like the one they have in big jets. When you see the clock, your sit adjustment for correct driving position is correct.

Defrost mirrors, compass/temp display rear view mirror, rear wiper on camper shell, trans.cooler.
Both airbags deploy in an accident. Even if you don't have a passenger. Switching it off protects toddlers or saves money at the body shop to replace it.

Has anyone installed one of these in a Double Cab?
I wonder if there is a pigtail just sitting behind the cap that would be just a mater of plugging in the switch.

My DC has an empty spot there for just the reasons mentioned above. PO drilled holes in it though to use it as a mount. Toyota just figured since there are 4 doors, people would always put the car seat in the back.
On my 06 Tacoma Sport access cab it had a sensor in the passenger seat. While someone was sitting in it the light would come on saying air bag on. And vise versa.

IIRC - Toyota expressly states that child seats go in the back seat area of the double-cabs. Us with the single cabs and extended cabs should disable the passenger air bag when a child seat is in the passenger front seat area...

Mine has been disabled since I bought my std cab back in 2003.
I covered the indicator light with a piece of electrical tape LOL
My lab who always rides with me, who doesn't like his seatbelt, is better off... no?
