I hear you man. I faced the same dilemma when my project started. Between my job and the military I put 80hrs of work easily per week. There was no way I could pull a SAS on my own. No time to do it! - plus all the other "incidentals" we were talking about.

Ended up having a pro builder do the work, but I remained engaged in all aspects of it beginning/end. It was actually a really fun experience and I learned a lot along the way.

Damn I would love to make it to the almighty AZ rocks. The little red guy with horns on my shoulder would be thinking why stop there, might as well make a run to moab as well.

I have my heart set on the Dusy / Ershim lake when it opens up. Swamp lake is also on the chopping block.

If you have a very motivated wallet, you could have your truck built for AZ rocks and Utah :D

Going to try and get my crawler in sometime in the next 2 weeks. Debating on triple sticks, I want 2wd dbl low and I dont want to lose a cup holder. Still figuring out what I want to do for a crossmember. Going to put together a cad file for the (2) 4 bolt stock pattern so I can have a skidplate template cut out.

I do right now but its coming out for R1A cases, because I'm passenger side drop with the Fj80 axle. Trying to go as minimal as possible on the plate design, probably something like this.
I know @awsumdc, @JDEMELLO will recognize the truck. Some photos I snapped a long time ago(circa 2007) Jason let me crawl under his truck when I was at the shop for something.

When Installing the coupler, whats the consensus on grease Vs. anti-seize ? Some people say the aluminum in the anti-seize has slight friction properties and eventually it will cause wallowing of the splines. any truth to this. I seen ones that needed to be cut off the input shafts cause people just put them on dry (insert perverted joke here).

Awesome!!! Loved that truck. He did so much with it. It's the one that really started it all for many of us.

DO NOT USE ANTI-SEIZE!!!.. Use a high quality Marine grease on the splines but with the new Marlin case's they also now have an oiling system that puts oil up into that area so the splines are never dry.
