Hi, I’m considering a purchase of an 02 Tacoma to replace my aging 1989 22re pickup. My coworker is selling the Tacoma with 160k miles and everything feels and looks good except some obvious frame issues. At this point I’d like help from someone with experience: should I avoid at all costs? Or could it possibly be fixed? My coworker is asking $6000 for the truck which is low but I don’t want to buy a truck with a short life span.

    thanks for your input.

Yeaaa that's done. You'd spend thousands trying to patch or safety cap that, and still have a rusted out frame. Even though it's cheap that's a pass from me.

Spend the money on your 89, “aging” means nothing.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
That is a $ 500.00 truck I bought like new Tires and wheels and the truck for another $100.00

Good running engine and drive train 4x4 5 speed.

I say put the money in the 89 if it is a 4x4 . If your close I have lots of that vintage parts.

I've seen better frames in a boneyard. If I had that one inspected, that truck would be taken out of service, being unsafe to operate on public roads.

Thanks for all the input! I was nervous about it and it’s reassuring to hear a definitive response from so many. I live in Minnesota so rusty frames are the norm but this looked worse, much worse than my ‘89 pickup frame. I will pass on this truck.
