I have the 2.7L 4x4 and it vibrates at idle and while in drive when I’m at a traffic light or stop and go traffic. What could it be?

Could be a variety of things. Worn engine mounts, transmission mount, or it could be just the nature of the I4 engine.

I would check idle speed first. Does a slight opening of the throttle make it go away? If it does, take the air boot off and see if there is carbon/oil build up around the blade/bore.

I’ve check idle speed and its within spec but it definitely does help with it slightly opened I’ll check the throttle when I have time.

It can be your idle control valve. Had same issue in the past on one of my tacomas used to shack a vibrate at idle on a red light or stop light. I kinda had a feeling it was that when 2.7 gets up there in mileage idle control vavle starts to act funky i installed a new one and that did the trick running smoother and quieter.

I was looking at that as well as soon as I have free time I’ll check it out

Did you ever solve your issue? I have the same symptoms, ‘04 2.7 that vibrates when I’m stopped and idling in gear. Raise the RPM a bit and it smooths out

i have heard a rumor that there is an updated PCM to raise the idle 50-ish rpms to solve this. Can yours be flashed to the new standard... I dont know.

Don’t mean to hijack the OP but ordered the throttle body gasket from rockauto today so I can remove the TB for a proper cleaning. Tried to clean it with a toothbrush and rags while it was still connected to the intake manifold. I’m sure I didn’t do a good job and most of the grunge that did come off went straight into the manifold. WTF was I thinking? Fingers crossed it fixes the issue.

I know this is old, but I'm gonna post this just in case this helps someone searching. Mine had been on & off vibrating/making a rumbling noise. It was driving me nuts! Turns out it's the hood. For now I raised the bump stops....
