I'm thinking of putting LT245/75R16E or LT265/75R16E tires on my 02 TRD OFFROAD, but the vehicle appears to have 8.5" wide rims, and the LT tire specs say 7-8" rims.
Any thoughts on this. I'm looking to maintain or slightly increase ground clearance, drive on snow, ice, and some muddy rutty roads.

I'm running e tires on 1st Gen TRDs (16x7 with 4.5" BS) and they work great! Don't inflate to max preasure do the chalk test for propper preasure.

Thank you. My current tires were on the TRD when I bought it and are LT265/75R16C Liberator, unbranded but made by Uniroyal according to the DOT#. They have 11/32s tread left but are so wide they slide all over icy roads in eastern Idaho where I live. I'm now thinking of LT235/85R16's which are available only in e's. My wheels are stock 16x7 JJ's.

The other day at a Les Schwab tire shop I was told for proper balancing those wheels require a balancing machine adaptor which few tire shops have. They balanced the tires and I will be driving 450 miles this week, so I'll see how they do.
