    Hi Group!
I hope you are having a good day! I wanted to see if anyone has run into this problem before and what they found to be the resolve. I have an 03 tacoma 2.7 4x4 that I recently purchased. The issue that I am having is that when the truck is cold it will sputter while at idle and when driving it will sputter and die. Once it warms up it seems to be fine. It has a Volant Cold Air Intake as well as an aftermarket header. The odd thing is is that it doesnt throw the check engine light to indicate what the issue is. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Could be the MAF sensor (part of a stock intake), if your truck still has it. The MAF also includes the air temp sensor (at least it does on my '99 3RZ)

the CEL(check engine light) will only be tripped when a certainset or parameters are exceeded... there is more than likely a "pending" code that could lead you to a starting point.

I used to have a 94 T100 with the dreadful 3.0L V6 and had the same symptoms plus white smoke bellowing out of the tailpipe. My issue was a blown head gasket.

    Hi
    Glamisman,
Is there a way to check for "pending" codes?

The Ultragauge will detect 'pending' codes. Not sure about scangauge or other code readers.

Thanks guys! I am going to pick up a scanner and plug it in while I drive to try and catch the pending code. I will post my findings.
