After I get gas, starting my truck is very difficult. It has yet to not start, but it takes so long that I feel it is only a matter of time. Once started, I have to give it gas to keep it from dying. I have to quickly put it in gear and start moving or it will die. The weird thing is that once I get on the road and going, there are no issues. Maybe once a week I have a difficult time starting, but even then it does not compare to the difficulty I have when adding fuel. Other than that, it generally starts right up. It is just bizarre because it is such a conditional problem. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Been dealing with it for months now and worried that it might be a bigger issue as the weather gets cooler.

charcoal canister, my 3.4l v6 did this only after refueling the gas tank it would not start, what happened is after Hurricane Sandy I got into the habit of topping off my gas tank to squeeze as much fuel in my truck as I could doing this bad habit raw gas flooded into the charcoal canister and I had the same condition of hard starting the truck after refueling it. so if you or a gas attendant have topped of the fuel tank after the pump kicks off then you run the risk of contaminating the charcoal canister and they are not cheap. also when this happened to me I had no check engine lights come on just a no start condition only after refueling the tank, I would have to floor the gas peddle at the gas station to get it started other than that it started and ran normally.

Topping off will also allow raw fuel to back up into the vapor system which will cause problems. I had a mechanic years ago tell me to never top off a new car. It causes all kinds of problems with the evap system. A system which never should have been put on engines to begin with.
