    Hi Group!
Happy Monday to ya! I wanted to see if there is a way to use a jumper to determine the code for the ABS light? I recently had my front hubs/wheel bearings replaced and shortly after I noticed the ABS system would engage when pressing the brake peddle from time to time and now the ABS light is on. I suspect that when they swapped hubs they might have damaged the sensor or the cable for the ABS/Speed sensor but wanted to get your thoughts?

    Thanks

one of your local auto parts stores should be able to scan it for you for free, depending on what state you are in. I am in CA and the guy next to me at my local O'Reillys asked about a free scan and the manager said we cant do that here. After that customer left I inquired as to why they cant, Auto Zone says they can. He explained that in CA scanning is considered a "service" and O'Reillys sells parts and do not preform services on vehicles, they dont have a liscense for that, makes sense to me.

Thanks. I have a pretty decent scanner but it doesnt pull ABS and/or airbag codes. I wasnt sure if the local auto parts stores would be able to scan for it or not. I have seen in some threads that there was a way to put a jumper on a couple of the ports and it would cause the ABS light to blink and you would cross ref. that with a code sheet to determine the issue.

The ABS light lit up on my 2003 DCab and the codes def came up on the O'Reillys scanner I checked my truck with. No idea on the jumper. I'd just make it easy and hit an auto-parts store and read the codes with their reader (easy as long as you are near an auto-parts store... heh)

Definitely can't get ABS codes scanned at an auto parts store. The pins to jump are TC and E1:

May be true only for earlier years? My 2003 DCab, definitely, 100%, read ABS codes from a scanner at Oreileys.

dealership wanted $100 just to scan for my abs code. I just told him I put tundra brakes on it and it was fine. I was only there for a free spare tire carrier replacement.

you need a specialized code reader to see ABS and airbag (SRS) codes. In the diagnostic port, under the hood, you must jump the E1 and Tc ports. You light wil then flash in a pattern, telling you the code

Also, if it doesn't work through the diagnostic port, you can try the OBD port. Pins 4 and 13
