Thank you for this. Very helpful.

I called my two local dealerships and they only have 22030-62020 in their system. The other PN doesn't even pull up. Which is weird because it's showing up in online Toyota depts.

Anywho... gonna buy one for piece of mind. $375 delivered.

Paying $375-$600 for a part that may or may not go bad sometime in the future is fine, if you’ve got idle cash for such a low probability.

Call it what you want, and spend your money how you like.

I however plan to get buried in my Tacoma, and I'm only 32 years old. So I want another 50 years out of my 22 year old pickup that already has 300k miles on it.

So if there's a part that can render my truck completely un-drivable should it fail, and that part isn't repairable, then I'm going to have a spare sitting around to ensure I can keep my truck on the road.

Toyota won't make parts for these trucks forever, especially parts that were used on only 2 model years of vehicles.

Normally I don’t respond to people’s opinions on how I spend my money or live my life… and I’m not defensive so please don’t take it that way.

But if $375 gives me peace of mind for the next 20 years, I don’t mind spending $18.75 per year for that.

This part will be discontinued probably fairly soon and it’s not as if I can hodgepodge something from a 95-02 for my 04. Not to mention 1st gen Tacomas last about a day in the pick’n’pull where I live.

Plus, in 10, 15 or 20 years… I can easily sell it for double if I want.

Anything with motor actuation will eventually go out....

    I would recommend against 03/04's

but if you have to have one......I would definitely buy a backup TB....

toyota completely let their customers down on this one.....
    shame on you Toyota......
