The bolt that attaches the rear shock to the axle must have rattled out and the truck is making a clunky noise (my poor baby).

Could anyone point me to the OEM replacement source or part number? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The parts guy at Toyota dealer wasn’t very helpful, and to he fair, the diagram he pulled up, and is wildly available online does NOT show the bolt, hence why I’m here asking for your help.

Last resort is removing the bolt from the other shock and taking it to the hardware store..

Part number 91619G1220 (it's in the diagram you just posted)

By the way, you're missing a bushing and washer too

Thank you so much! I see the tiny "N" that marks the nut. No wonder I missed it.

Luckily the bushing is still on and it appears that the bolt comes with the washer.
Re-posting the rear shock bolt part number and link for future reference:

When did Toyota start using DIN hardware instead of JIS?

The only M12x1.5 hardware on my Tacoma are my studs and lug nuts.

Not that the1.50 thread will not work I just hate having the wrong size wrench.

    Did they change after 2000?

To prevent the bolt from coming out again, use some blue locktite and be sure to torque the bolt to spec.

    That's an oxymoron.

OP will need to reduce torque value between 30-40% because torque values specified are dry; adding loctite will require a wet torque spec.

I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong, but I've got old notes stating so as I lost one on my Tacoma way back.

Can say for sure the M8 and M10 bolts I've pulled have all been 1.25 as well as a few M12. But a few M12 bolts are also 1.50 and I'm not sure if they're from the Tacoma, 4Runner, or Land Cruiser.

They're in my 'extra parts' box :anonymous:

Quite possible new M12x1.50 hardware came with new shocks?

I can remember Hardware being included with some new shocks.

Throughout the different Toyota vehicles, only shocks that came with hardware were shocks with stem tops (Land Cruiser front and rear, 4Runner rear) as they would need a nut to go with said stem top.

That and the top 3 bolts for the front coilovers, least that was the case for my Fox 2.5 and King 2.5. Couldn't imagine reusing those old factory 14mm bolts on expensive coilovers.

But the bottom rear shock bolts on all vehicles were reused; I never reused them and bought a new set before replacing said shocks *just in case*

    Don't like being unprepared.

    Update:

The above parts are not correct. I went to the local Toyota dealership and asked for the part number above and they presented me with chode nuts:

    IMG_0483.jpg

These are obviously the wrong nuts and I’m back to square one. Writing this from Toyota dealership and can’t say enough how much I love my old shit box Toyota but man these new trucks look good.

Bolt looks correct from what I recall?

It's not a long bolt as the shock bushing sits inside the threaded sleeve/rod. The bolt just attachs at the end.

    @Beee1985

Bet you a bottle opener it's the correct bolt, I bullshit a lot and derail threads, but I never like to present incorrect information when it comes to vehicles.

When you compare it to the other strut bolt, it appears to be a very different bolt. It doesn’t look too short to you?

    Read my post.

If I'm wrong, I owe you a bottle opener.

If I'm right, you need to buy one $12 shipped.

    We on?

At this point you may be right, I’m also questioning why the hell that diagram would suggest the wrong bolt?

    I need a stiff cocktail.

What do you mean suggest wrong bolt?

The part number I shared, is the same as the diagram, not to mention the parts you picked up.

You're questioning it without even having tried it.

Would've taken a lot less time going to the store, pulling the bolt on the other side, and grabbing a replacement from a hardware store than posting here. Or even less just threading on the new bolt in your hands onto your truck.

I had a Tacoma and it'd take 10-15 minutes to fully replace rear shocks as I'd do it every time I fully loaded/unloaded my vehicle. Pulling or installing one bolt would take seconds.

I have no idea the Hot weather effecting my brain. No clue what I was thinking of

My first thought was correct those are M10 x1.25 .bolts only about 20 25mm long

I just double checked I have spring seats laying on the bench to clean and paint.
