03 tacoma/front 2.5" lift, new shocks question.. HELP!

On my 03 tacoma trd, I am in the process of installing rancho 9000 series shocks and a rough country 2.5 " lift. I finished the rear no problem. The front however, I ran into one problem only. After putting set together, I need another inch of space to fit bottom of shock into place. I tried the strut compressors, yet still did not gain enough space to install bottom of shock. Just a little more info., I have also disconnected sway bar or control arm. Could use some advice so I can stop looking at my beautiful truck wishing I was driving it. I will post pics of the truck when I return home. Thanks.

 

Try popping off lower ball joint from the knuckle. That may give you the extra inch.
