Been acting up some lately but now doesn't want to shift out of park, after pressing the button on top of the shifter it will eventually go into any gear with no issues. My shifter itself is really loose and wiggles all around. I've read other threads where brake switch is bad but do they start acting up first or just out all at once. Wondering if the loose shifter is causing it and how does one fix the loose shifter issue? It literally feels like it could come out in your hand at any time and it hasn't always been that way
I'll probably go ahead and do the brake switch replacement just to be safe and hopefully that'll fix it.

I seem to recall fixing an issue like this on a customer truck, I can't remember the details but I believe it was the bushings on the part the the floor shifter pivots on.
Can you shift it if you use the override button?

Here's a video on replacing the bushings.
