    Hi all,
new to the forum. I've been driving an 04 Taco auto for about the year now. I like the truck overall, but the cruise control drives me insane. It works fine on a flat, but accelerates if you hit even the slightest grade. I usually take it out of cruise, otherwise it downshifts and starts gunning it. I realize it's a small engine and needs to downshift in order to maintain speed, but in my opinion it's overcompensating. The speed should not increase when going uphill. Kind of defeats the purpose. Is this "normal" Taco behavior or should I have this looked at?
    thanks!
    Scott

Welcome to TW. The CC should hold the vehicle within 5 mph of the selected speed. Is it going over that?

Totally normal behavior. Mine goes completely crazy, since I'm running 285's and have not regeared yet.

Put in some 4.88's and you'll have no problem pulling hills with the cruise engaged.

My CC and a guy I work with's (he has a 00 extended cab) both do this. It annoyed me at first, now I'm used to it.

Good to know. Guess I'll just have to live with it.
