I'm new and still trying to figure this site out, any help would be very much appreciated! Im looking to convert my DC pre runner to 5spd 4wd. Ive been looking for a R150F tranny for awhile and may have found one in a 97 4runner, it has the J-shift TC too. I know there's probably thousands of threads already on this but I can't seem to find info about the last things I don't know. I know it would be way more ideal to get a 00-04 ex. cab but in Hawaii any nobody's selling. This 97 4runner does have some issues, owner says 4th goes in when it wants and it's also leaking tranny fluid into the TC. which isn't a complete deterrent for me as I would want to get it fully rebuilt before throwing it in my truck anyways. As far as the ECU, will the one in the 4runner work in my double cab? would I need any part of the runners harness? is it possible to make this work without getting a CEL? as far as the 4wd components they should just bolt right into place right? I know the tranny crossmember will have to moved, but is the differential different from older years as far as mounting? Will the driveshaft work from the runner to double cab? it also has a rear locking diff I would like to swap over too. Im also curious about swapping my Auto 2wd transmission from the double cab to the 4runner to make it operational. Thanks a lot for any input. I just bought this truck bone stock with 230xxxmiles and plan on building it up to a solid daily driver capable of going up the mountains here on Oahu and ride on the sand. Just got rid of my 94 pickup 5spd 4wd due to family getting bigger but double cab 4wd's here are about 2-3x's what I got my pre runner for, just underestimated how hard it wold be to find parts for my conversion and were kinda limited because shipping to Hawaii from the mainland is big$.
